Aceptado el 13-I-2015 RESUMEN Se han estudiado varias muestras de sedimentos bioclásticos recogidas con escafandra autónoma a distintas profundidades en los fondos próximos a las islas Chafarinas. Como resultado de ello se obtuvieron un total de 382 especies de gasterópodos. Las familias con mayor número de especies resultaron ser Pyramidellidae (55), Rissoidae (32), Ceri - thiopsidae (21), Trochidae (20), Mangeliidae (17) y Eulimidae (15). Se comentan los pro - blemas taxonómicos que presentan algunas especies de las familias Cerithiopsidae, Euli - midae y Pyramidellidae y de los géneros Alvania , Ocinebrina y Cima . ABSTRACT Several samples of bioclastic sediment collected by scuba diving at various depths in the sourrounding bottoms of the Chafarinas Islands (SW Mediterranean) have been studied. As a result, a total of 382 species of gastropods were recorded. Families which include a higher number of species were Pyramidellidae (55), Rissoidae (32), Cerithiopsidae (21), Trochidae (20), Mangeliidae (17) and Eulimidae (15). Some taxonomic comments are given on species of the families Cerithiopsidae, Eulimidae and Pyramidellidae and on the genera Alvania, Ocinebrina and Cima.     Genetic Relationships among Species of Meretrix (Mollusca: Veneridae) in the Western Pacific Ocean1 Ayako Yashiki Yamakawa,2,3,6 Masashi Yamaguchi,4,5 and Hideyuki Imai4 Abstract: We compared allozymes at 12 loci in 12 populations of six species of Meretrix: M. lusoria ( Japan, Korea, and Taiwan), M. petechialis (China and Ko- rea), M. ovum (Thailand and Mozambique), M. lyrata (China), M. lamarckii ( Ja- pan), and Meretrix sp. A (Okinawa, Japan). Our allozyme results were generally consistent with the major groupings currently recognized within the genus based on morphological characters. However, we found two cryptic or un- described species: Meretrix sp. A from Okinawa and M. cf. lusoria from Taiwan. The shell characters of Meretrix sp. A were similar to those of M. lamarckii, but the species was genetically distinct (Nei’s genetic distance D > 0.845) from all other species examined. The Taiwanese Meretrix population was morphologi- cally indistinguishable from Japanese M. lusoria, although the genetic distance between the Taiwanese and Japanese populations showed a high degree of ge- netic differentiation (D > 0.386). Meretrix lusoria seedlings were introduced into Taiwan from Japan in the 1920s, and Japanese M. lusoria was previously thought to be established as a cultured stock. However, our results suggest that the Taiwanese population may represent a sibling or cryptic species of M. lusoria. Asianhardclams, genus Meretrix (Vener- (Yoosukh and Matsukuma 2001). (1971, 1972, 1975) Results The collections yielded species from Scaphopoda, Lamellibranchiata and Gastropoda class- es. Altogether 7697 individuals belonging to 188 species were collected. (Scaphopoda: 1 family 1 species, Lamellibranchiata: 30 families 90 species 3811 specimen, Gastropoda: 42 families 188 species 7697 specimen). From the Bivalvia the Musculus laevigatus is a cir- cumpolar, the Hiatellidae: Hiatella arctica is a boreal circumpolar species. From the Gastropoda the Trochidae: Clanculus striatus, Phasianellidae: Tricolia miniata are known as belonging to the Southern Mediterranean. Most probably they spread due shipping. From most of the species encountered 1-40 individuals were found. More than 100 indi- viduals were collected from the species below: Jujubinus striatus, Gibbula philberti, Truncatella subcylindrica, Alvania consociella, Bittium latreilli, Bittium reticulatum, Cerithium alucaster, Gibberula miliaria, Granulina clandestina. A total of 133 benthic taxa have been recorded, and their distribution evaluated according to depth and seasonality. Bathymetric distribution showed scanty differences between the 4-6 meters and 12-16 meters depth levels, sharing all the 22 most abundant species. Season markedly affected species composition, since 42 taxa were exclusively recorded in spring and 35 in autumn, contrary to 56 shared taxa. The occurrence of some uncommon taxa has also been discussed.
