Baby Bhasmasura given by Siva Narrator: After ages of defeats and humiliations at the hands of the devatas, and especially the surapakshapaati Vishnu, Sukracharya, the guru of the asuras, performs a mighty yaagam to entreat Parama Siva to give them a peerless leader. Siva, pleased by the devotion of his bhaktas, gives a baby boy to the acharya. They name him Bhasmasura Music - segments from "Chandrasekhara Chandrasekhara" from the movie Mohini Bhasmasura; On Stage: Yaagam, Shiva giving infant to Sukracharya Scene 1. Narrator: The baby Bhasmasura grows up to be a strong and handsome young man, an expert in all the arts and sciences under the tutelage of Sukracharya. A beautiful princess falls in love and marries him, making him King . At the coronation: ార : య భాసుా ! ఇళక తపసు భంచనున. ఈ ధనుజకలమను ఉదంచు సమయమ ానున. భాసుర : గరవా .. ఈ ాజమ ందులక ?! ఈ ాజమను పాంచం. గరదణా సమంెదను . ను క వేసుకంట ఋణమ రకదను . : భాసుా , గరభ ఆదరయం . ా , ఋణమ రట ఇటల ాదు . వ వ వరపా . మహాౖ, ఆ ేవతలం , మన అసురకల ంచు . భ: తణ గరేవ ! ఆజ ాంెద ాక .. : ఉండ య .. రపాన ఆ షవ ఆ ేవతలను ఎలపడూ ాాడచూ ఉంటడ . ీాగర మధనంతరం అమృతం మనక దకకం ేాడ . మక రణ రణకిపలను అరంా సంహండ . ధాతైన బచకవ క ాణంా టనబటకనడ .. భ: హ! ఎవరొెద చూదను ! : య .. అశపడక మాట ను . మందుా మన కలైవన పరశర తపసు ేసు ించు . ఆౖన ట ఆటంకమ ఉండదు భ: ధనుడను గరేా .. ఆజ పార పరశర ింెదను .. Scene 2. Narrator: And so Bhasmasura set off into the deep forests, and began his tapassu. The heavens resounded with the deep sounds of “OM NAMASIVAAYA”. Alarmed at the prospect of Bhasmasura succeeding in getting a boon from Siva, Indra sends his apsarasas to try and distract the bhakta from his quest .. Song: Sundaraangaa, from movie "Bhookailas"; Dancers go offstage at end of song, singing Om Namah Sivaaya (Bhasmasura continues chanting) (Enter Siva) వ : భా , భాసుా ... భాసుర : ా ! పరమా ! భక జన వతలా ! దరన గమ పాంా ేా ! : భాగణ , భ ను . ఏం వరం ావల ర భ: ార , ధి , ధి . ట సఫలమనున. గరవరలక సన గరదణ పాంచగ నంబ ానున. చందచూ ! ఇే క . మలకమలలనూ కంటేబలవంతెవడూ ఉండాదు . ే ఎవ తలౖన ార ంట మా భసమా . : ఇే పతన క భా !? రాటనౖ ఇటవంట వరం రాదు . ఇ మప ేగలదు ! భ: ెవేవ , ాంబా ! యగయాలా మా అసురకల ౖరలౖన ఆ ేవతలను జంచమన మా గరవల ఆజను ాటం . సురపాన ఆ షవ అడ ఈ ారమ రా ! క ఈ వరమ అవశమ . భకడ న వరమ ాదనుట ధామా భకవతలా !? : మక ా ఆలంచు భాసుా . ల ెబతనను . భ: మంచు మహేా . ను న వర పాంచు . : తసు ! భ: హ హ హ .. సలర వర ! మలాలల నరల , సురల , అందర క తలవంచవలింే!తణ గరవరల సుభార ెద ! Scene 3 Narrator: With the power of the boon granted by Siva, Bhasmasura became invincible. All the worlds trembled at his anger. Even mighty Indra, fearing for his life, deserted the kingdom of heaven and went into hiding. Eager to complete his victory, Bhasmasura searched all the worlds for Vishnu, to reduce him to ashes. Failingin this, he began to round up and kill all the Vishnu bhaktulu that he could find, hoping that Vishu would show up to defend them and then fall to his mighty hand. One day, he was in his court dealing with the latest batch of vishnubhaktulu Music: Segments from "Maadhavaa mounamaa" from the movie Satyanarayana Mahatyam భకడ : ాయన ాయన భ: ఎకడా ాయణడ ?! ఇంతమం భకలను భసంజి ా ఆ ాయణజపలా క ! అనుభంచం! (and reduces him to ashes). (just then, Bhasmasura’s wife walks in with little girl, who happens to see this. She gets scared) ాప : ! ! భ: అ ! నుపొవమా ! భయిం ! ా త! ాప : క భయం ! దగర ాను ! భ: ార దుషలమా , అందుక దంంను ! ంేాను త! ేయను ! ... ... మా ట త (draws her near, and pets her; accidentally places his hand on her head and the girl is reduced to ashes) భ: త! ట త! ఎంత రమ జనదమా ! ఎ లాల జ! ఎంత ధనమ సంా ! నువల ఈ తమ వరమమా ! వరం ! అ , పరశా , ఇెక తలాతయ ! (Naarada walks in) : ాయణ ాయణ .. భ: మం , ఈ పతమ చూా ! : య , కమ ను చూడలకనును . మలాలనూ జంన ారలా ఈ దుర ! భ: మంద, ఏ ెపమందుర ! ర ాలల . ౖా మా లాషల . మా ాపను బంచ ఏై ఉాయమ ెపా ! మరల పరశర తపసు ేిన లజరగ ! : ా ! ంా అరంాల ఆ పరశర పగం !? భ: మంద! పరశరడ మా కలైవం , పరమ పజయడ . అంతట భకవతలడ , మా ౖ పగమా !? : లా శంకరడ ఆయనంటర ా , అసల నలయ ! ఈ మరలం ఒకటే! వ షభకలను ంిసూవంటేచూడలక , బతకౖ ర పటేలా ఇలా ేిం ఆ వే! ాజలే కదలదంటర . ఇంటట రం ఆ వ ెయక జంద భంచుచుా !? భ: (angrily) ! ఇంతట ోహమా ! : ాప ాాలంటే ఆ మృతంజయైన వడ అడగవయ ! భ: మంద, మం సల ఇ. ఇపే లాా ఆ వ అట ఇట ేాను . : ాయణ ాయణ ! Scene 4 Narrator: Falling for the wily Naarada’s suggestions, Bhasmasura sets off in great anger to Kailasam. Siva and Parvati are in meditation. భ: శంకా ! పగమల ఇక ాగవ ! తణ మా ాప బం అపజపమ ! ార : భాసుా ! మ భంన ! సశరౖ ఆగహం !? భ: సశరడ ! ! భకవతలడ నన ఇంతట ోహం తలడ ! : (opening his eyes) భాసుా ! వ ేిన తప ఇతరలను ంంచలా ! మరణంన ార .. అందులను , వశ సరపన భసహసమ మరణంన ార .. వచుట అసంభవం . ను మంే చం గ .. జగత పయండవలిం. భ: అటల .. మ ా, ర క వరే మందు జగత పడవలిం! : ( getting up) అంటే ఉేసం !? భ: న వరబలమగల ఈ హసమ ే పంెద ! Scene 5 Narrator: As Siva runs to escape the power of his own boon, Parvati entreats Sreemannaaraayana to save her consort. Vishnu immediately comes to the rescue. Disoriented by the Vishnumaaya, Bhasmasura loses sight of Siva who runs to safety; Vishnu then transforms himself into Mohini, the divine temptress. The ravishingly beautiful Mohini then approaches the enraged Bhasmasura, still searching for Siva; At the sight of this celestial kanya, Bhasmasura forgets all about Siva and accosts her. భ: ఎవర వ ? గంధర కనా ? అపరసా ? : ెవా , ను భ: ఓ , భవన , ను చూి మనసు పరవంచుచున : నను చూిన అందర ఇే ెబర ! భ : అలా అనక ే ! ను మామల పరషడను ాను ! అసుర చకవ , భాసురడను . ానుగహమ ంన వరపతడను . నను వంచు , కరణం ాజసు : ను నను ంన మ పరషసం దుకతను భ: అే ఇక కృి ఫంన. నను ంన ాడ మలాల ద క ొరకడ : అలాా ! ను అరవలగ కళలల ఆేన దూి భ: ెప ే ! ఏ కళలౖ క టా లాను : అలాా ! అే సా టం ేయగలా ? భ: ఆ ! సుమ మలన మనసు టకళ ఎనుకనుటల ఆసరలదు ! ామ ే ! Music: Instrumental from the movie "Maya Bazaar" Mohini and Bhasmasura dance, with Bhasmasura following each sequence Mohini performs; Dance ends when Mohini places her hand on her head, and Bhasmasura follows, reducing himself to ashes. Now, Sri Krishna discussed another topic, raising the question as to why do humans suffer when everything in the universe is divine? Why does one feel incomplete, insecure and not at ease? This is a universal problem. Different people solve it in different ways. Some acquire material things, some seek position, some seek power, name, family etc. Nothing, however, seems to work. This universal problem is called Samasra. Sri Krishna is diagnosing the problem in shloka # 13 and provides its resolution in shloka # 14. The problem is this: Since the Para prakriti (PP) is formless, colorless and not accessible for our perception, we generally miss it. Hence it is also called “Aprameya” meaning not accessible to perception.

Yeats’s one of the most critically acclaimed poems, Indian upon God, bears testimony to the fact that he was immensely influenced by Hindu religious notions and Indian philosophy. Though there are a number of poems in Indian context written by him, which reveal Yeats’s obsession with Indian culture and philosophy, but Indian upon God is possibly the only poem contemplating on the concept of God according to Hindu Philosophy. Yeats’s interest in Indian philosophy resulted from his interaction with the Indian scholar and preacher, Mohini Chatterji. His affinity for Indian culture and philosophy is evident in the aforementioned poem where he expresses his notion of Indian God .Despite all his endeavours to encapsulate the essence of Hindu religion Yeats often struggles to establish his ideas because his concept seems to be imbued with his own religious notions of Christianity. Therefore the Indian’s God delineated by him in this poem emerges as a religious amalgamation, or a God out of the mixture of Hindu and Christian religion.

India, for Yeats, was brought to life for the first time by the Dublin visit of the Bengali Theosophist and Vedāntist Mohini Chatterjee in the mid-1880s. The Bhagavata purana is replete with glorification of Lord Parasurama. The following Bhagavatam shloka (2.7.22) explains the purpose of this glorious incarnation. kshatram kshayaaya vidhinopabhrtam mahaatmaa brahma dhrug ujjhita-patham narakaarti lipsu uddhanty asaau avanikantakam ugra - viiryas trih sapta kritva urudhaara parashvadhena "When the ruling administrators, who are known as the kshatriyas, turned astray from the path of the Absolute Truth, being desirous to suffer in hell, the Lord, in His incarnation as the sage Parasurama, uprooted those unwanted kings, who appeared as the thorns of the earth. Thus He thrice seven times uprooted the kshatriyas with His keenly sharpened chopper." Srila Prabhupada explains in the purport as follows the purpose of this great incarnation: "Every state and its administrators, regardless of the nature of the administration monarchy or democracy, oligarchy or dictatorship or autocracy have the prime responsibility to lead the citizens toward God realization. This is essential for all human beings, and it is the duty of the father, spiritual master, and ultimately the state to take up the responsibility of leading the citizens towards this end. The whole creation of material existence is made for this purpose, just to give a chance to the fallen souls who rebelled against the will of the Supreme Father and thus became conditioned by material nature.
