Partnership Sask Polytech operates the Hannin Creek Education and Applied Research Facility in partnership with the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF). The objectives of this unique partnership include; Application of science and technology to train young professionals to contribute to the effective management and economic growth of Saskatchewan. Development of a hub of applied research expertise focused on exploring the capacity of new technologies and contributing to the success of natural resource management. Development of youth leadership, passions among our youth for conservation, and field/technical competence. Build a collaborative and cooperative partnership between one of Canada’s leading conservation NGO’s (SWF) and Sask Polytech to lever financial support, foster volunteer commitment and enhance hands-on experiential learning opportunities in a post-secondary setting. Together this partnership is contributing to the social, economic and educational advancement of the people of Saskatchewan. Vision The HCF is made up of several multi-person sleeping cabins to accommodate 60 people, a meeting/classroom building, a modern washroom building and a commercial kitchen with dining facility that can accommodate groups of up to 70 participants. In recent years, the HCF has undergone significant renovations and enhancements to upgrade and modernizing many of the buildings. The most recent addition to the HCF is the new Multipurpose Education Centre and Lab. The Centre will include 2 classrooms, a large multi-functional lab, facilities for applied research, remote monitoring equipment for hydrology, a fully equipped workshop and a storage area. Phase 3 is the future vision of the Hannin Creek Education and Applied Research Facility. This is the vision and the desire for the HCF to become a leading facility for studies in applied education and research. Phase 3 will include a new conference facility, modern sleeping accommodations, lecture space and dining hall. The Need $150,000 Upon the completion of the new Multipurpose Education Centre and Lab, Sask Polytech will require investing partners to support the purchase of equipment to outfit the Centre. Investing in this equipment will ensure students have access to and are learning on the most current technologies and equipment. Equipment needs include: Laboratory equipment Workshop equipment Classroom and office furniture Instrumentation room equipment Sask Polytech has secured funding through the Government of Canada Strategic Innovation Fund to cover a portion of the costs of the new Multipurpose Education Centre and Lab building. Impact Investing in the Hannin Creek Education and Research Facility will have immediate and long-term benefits for students and industry. The Multipurpose Education Centre and Lab will ensure Sask Polytech is able to provide career ready, highly skilled graduates who contribute to the workplace from day one. Students will have access to equipment comparable to what they may use in the workforce, reducing training time and costs for employers. Sask Polytech works closely with business and industry to ensure our training and educational programming is meeting industry needs. Partnerships are needed to help enhance and expand the learning opportunities for students at the Hannin Creek Education and Applied Research Facility.
