L'horizon Region: French Riviera (Cote D'azur) Sleeps: 10 L'Horizon Region: French Riviera (Cote D'Azur) Sleeps: 10 Overview On a hilltop enjoying lovely views down towards the sea, this beautiful villa is only a short drive from picturesque Sainte-Maxime, making it the perfect place for relaxing holiday with family or friends on the wonderful French Riviera. The open-plan living and dining room is spacious and full of light streaming in through the windows with a view. Step outside the French doors to a delightful terrace, ideal for your morning coffee or evening aperitif. Stairs take you down to the lower ground floor where you will discover the inviting swimming pool, gardens and a vast patio set up for poolside al-fresco dining with a sea-view. With a well-equipped kitchen on both levels, wonderful meals can be easily prepared and shared with loved ones here. Bright bedrooms and modern shower rooms are scattered across the two floors, some with sliding doors out to the pool or garden terrace. There’s a gym area for the more active guests or you may prefer to laze all afternoon in the warm summer sun by the glistening swimming pool. It’s only a five-minute drive down to Sainte-Maxime, a much-loved seaside town with a picturesque old town, lovely weekly market and bustling port. Spend the day on one of the great sandy beaches, swimming in the clear blue sea or trying out one of the many water-sports on offer. It’s a short drive (or even better, take the boat) to experience the glitz and glamour of Saint-Tropez and its fashionable beach clubs or for a slower pace of life explore some of the archetypal villages of the French Riviera such as Grimaud and Gassin, where you will find flower filled cobbled streets and pretty restaurants in idyllic surroundings. Not to mention the amazing activities on offer from nearby golf in prestigious surroundings to hiking and cycling along the coast and mountains. Yet at the end of the day you know that you will return to the wonderful and relaxing surroundings of your villa with a view at L’Horizon. It’s about 2-3km down to the coast where you will find a variety of beach restaurants and Plage de Nartelle, a sandy beach which is great for families. It’s a good spot for watersports such as windsurfing and body-boarding here as well. Also nearby is Plage de la Madrague (3km), lovely for snorkelling and La Pointe des Sardinaux (4km) a wild peninsular, accessed only by foot for the last part, with lovely shady pines for picnics and a small beach at the end. To the south of the town is Plage de la Croisette (3km), a sandy beach with magnificent views and a sailing school (for ages 7 upwards) and other watersports available such as kayaks and paddle boarding. The town itself is really picturesque and has a lovely climate as it is sheltered from northerly winds by hills. You can wander around the old town and port, discover lots of different restaurants and explore the little shops. Visit the market on a Thursday morning for a truly authentic experience. Heading south, visit Port Grimaud (12km), a mostly a traffic free zone with a great marina that can only be accessed by foot or boat. There are lots of pretty coloured houses, Venetian style bridges and small boats to watch come and go. Take a guided boat trip to tour the marina and then relax with a drink or meal in one of the marina’s cafes and restaurants. You can also enjoy great views of the marina from the Church of Saint-Francis of Assisi. Fashionable Saint-Tropez (17km) is just a short drive away, or in the summer you can beat the traffic, and take the ferry across from Sainte-Maxime in 15 minutes. Saint-Tropez is famous for its winding medieval streets, traditional pastel-painted fishermen’s cottages, boutiques and restaurants and the port with fishing boats moored alongside luxurious yachts. Those who enjoy the glitz and glamour must also visit Pampelonne Beach (22km) and its various beach restaurants including the exclusive Club 55, popular with celebrities as well as visitors. Just inland, the medieval village of Grimaud (14km) is located on top of a hill and stands out for its flower filled cobbled streets, ancient churches and stunning views. It offers traditional French boutiques, bars, a good range of restaurants plus a weekly antique market every Sunday. Other delightful villages to explore include Gassin (16km), Ramatuelle (19km) and La Môle (23km), a paradise for walkers with some beautiful trails through the stunning countryside. Page 4 The Maures mountains inland also offer perfect walking and cycling opportunities or for a spectacular day out head to the Gorges du Verdon (99km), the must see natural wonder of southern France where you can hire boats, canoes and kayaks. As well as a great variety of watersports, other outdoor activities in the area include tennis, horse-riding, go-karting, polo and funfairs for young children. Golf-lovers have a great choice of courses across this region from the nearby Golf Blue Green (6km) to the prestigious Beauvallon Golf Club (7km) on the other side of Sainte Maxime. Families may particularly like the Aqualand waterpark at Sainte Maxime (4km) or the Azur Theme Park near Gassin (11km). En ce début d’année, nous avons pris l’engagement « officiel concrétisant la création de notre Communauté de communes du golfe de Saint-Tropez en regroupant les douze communes de nos deux cantons de Grimaud et de Saint-Tropez autour d’une grande partie des compétences de nos anciens syndicats intercommunaux. La « révolution » n’est pas mince.... Changer d’appartenance déjà est un défi. Il ne faut plus penser « chez nous on fait comme ça » mais « ensemble, dans la CdC, nous faisons de cette manière ». Accepter de se remettre en question en admettant que l’autre pourrait faire aussi bien, si ce n’est mieux que soi, en est un autre, tout comme accepter une hiérarchie différente, même si elle bouscule les acquis. C’est un peu comme changer d’entreprise tout en conservant le même travail. Le temps que les choses s’organisent, il faudra faire preuve d’un peu de patience et de souplesse. Enfin, il faudra garder l’envie et la motivation pour réussir à trouver sa place dans ce puzzle géant. La nouvelle échelle de la Communauté vous offre des perspectives au-delà des frontières de vos anciennes responsabilités et permet d’imaginer un avenir plus ouvert. Il ne vous aura pas échappé que nous sommes à un an des élections communales qui rebattront les cartes du jeu politique de la Communauté de communes.

    L’EAU POTABLE SUR LA COMMUNE DE RAMATUELLE 1 Situation actuelle 1.1 Organisation institutionnelle Les ressources en eau sont réparties inégalement dans le golfe de Saint-Tropez. Pour assurer la desserte en eau de leur population et être plus fortes ensemble face aux épisodes de sécheresse, les communes du golfe ont très tôt décidé d’être solidaires et se sont regroupées en Syndicat. C’est ainsi qu’est né, le 19 septembre 1930, le Syndicat Intercommunal de Distribution d'Eau de la Corniche des Maures (SIDECM). Initialement créé par les communes de Cavalaire, de la Croix-Valmer, de Gassin et les hameaux du Rayol et du Canadel, il a été rejoint par Ramatuelle et la nouvelle commune du Rayol-Canadel en 1953, puis par Grimaud, Cogolin et le Plan de la Tour en 1970, puis par Saint-Tropez en 1974 et très récemment par La Mole (2012). Depuis les années 1980, la commune de La Mole est un partenaire important du SIDECM. Elle achetait au Syndicat jusqu’en 2012 toute l’eau potable nécessaire à l’alimentation de sa population. En 1989, suite à un référendum local, et en contrepartie de compensations financières, la commune a accepté la construction du barrage de la Verne. Un peu plus de vingt ans après, la commune a décidé d’adhérer au SIDECM. Cette adhésion est effective depuis le 1er janvier 2012. Sainte-Maxime, jusqu’alors adhérente au Syndicat de l’Eau du Var Est (SEVE), a signé en 2009 un protocole d’accord avec le SIDECM pour l’adhésion de la commune au syndicat dans le cadre du projet de la liaison Verdon-Saint-Cassien.

SCoT des cantons de Grimaud et de Saint-Tropez – version exécutoire rapport de présentation 29 On peut identifier, sur le territoire du SCoT, 3 aires géographiques distinctes : - le littoral qui accueille l’essentiel de l’armature urbaine et des activités humaines ; on peut schématiquement y distinguer le golfe de Saint-Tropez stricto sensu, le site de Pampelonne, la baie de Cavalaire et la corniche du Rayol-Canadel ; - le moyen-pays, secteur mixte où alternent collines boisées et plaines agricoles, et où une part importante de l’urbanisation se concentre autour des pôles urbains historiques de Ramatuelle, Gassin, Cogolin et Grimaud ; - l’arrière-pays qui ceinture le golfe et qui se compose essentiellement d’espaces collinaires boisés (massif des Maures) avec toutefois des espaces agricoles intercalaires (bassin du Plan de la Tour et vallée de La Mole). Pour autant, dans cette organisation territoriale très cohérente, certaines de ses composantes jouent un rôle charnière avec les territoires voisins (« portes du golfe ») : - au nord-ouest : Le Plan de la Tour et La Garde-Freinet avec le massif et la plaine des Maures ; - au nord et à l’est : Sainte-Maxime en liaison avec les agglomérations de Fréjus - Saint-Raphaël et de Draguignan ; - à l’ouest : La Mole et Le Rayol-Canadel tournés vers Le Lavandou, Hyères et Toulon.

  • Visit Gassin
    The hilltop village of Gassin was for a long time called "La Vigie du Golfe" (literally Gulf Lookout), and is today listed and classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Due to its position, it was possible from this height to keep watch over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez - then the Gulf of Ramatuelle – and the Bay of Cavalaire as far as the Îles d'Hyères. The village of Gassin receives its first mention in the 13th century. The remaining tower of the medieval castle bears witness to this past. The village extended inside the courtyard of the castle and then into the suburbs. There is much historical evidence of its medieval past, including the Porte des Sarrazins (Saracens Gate), which probably opened in the 14th century, and the remains of a hinge, as well as the doors of the long street, the oldest of which dates from 1422. When you arrive in Gassin, you can start your visit at the orientation board, just above the parking area at the entrance to the village. From there you have a magnificent view over the bay of Saint-Tropez and the surrounding hills. You can see a large part of the coast including the resorts of La Croix Valmer, Saint Tropez, Grimaud, Sainte- Maxime and les Issambres as well the Massif des Maures to the north. You can continue by walking along the medieval terrace - the Promenade Dei Barri - where there are several restaurants offering a terrace with panoramic views. The village is small and even the main square is barely wider than an ordinary road, but walking through the old streets of Gassin is a real pleasure.
