CAROL R. SAIVETZ IS A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, at Harvard’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, and a Research Affiliate at MIT’s Security Studies Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University and was a Lecturer in Government at Harvard from 1992 to 2006. Among her interests are Russian policies in the Middle East and the role of Russia in the Syrian civil war. Last year Dr. Saivetz participated in a dialogue between the Russian and U.S.
