Julen Martinez de Estibariz Espainiako txapelunorde Ultra distantzian 2018ko irailak 4. Mendi lasterketen euskal selekzioko Julen Martinez de Estibariz 2. sailkatu da Trail Valle de Tena lasterketan, Panticosan, Espainiako Ultra Txapelketan. Hermuakoa sekulako denboraldia osatzen ari da: linea erako Espainiako Txapelketan 3. izan zen, taldeka Euskal Selekzioarekin txapeldun , eta Espainiako Kopa ere 3. amaitu du. Irailaren 1ean jokatu zen Espainiko Ultra Txapelketako lasterketak 77 km eta 6.800 metro positibo zituen. Julenek denboraldiko plangintzan ez zuen sartu lasterketa hau, baina abuztuko lan asmoak aldatu behar izan zituenez parte hartzea erabaki zuen: “azken orduko erabakia izan zen, lan egutegi aldaketa batek eskura jarri zidan parte hartzeko aukera. Duela bi urte 43 kilometrokoan hartu nuen parte, lasterketa irabaziz, eta oso oroitza ona nuen. Lasterketa ederrak dira, eta luzea probatzeko gogoa nuenez joatea erabaki nuen”. Julen lasterketa buruan aritu zen uneoro Andreu Simon kataluniarrarekin batera (linea erako Espainiako Kopako irabazlea aurten). “Lau-bost korrikalari batu ginen hasieran, baina Garmo Negroko igoeran egin genuen aurrera Andreuk eta biok. Asko gozatu genuen elkarrekin”. Lasterketa kideak azken kilometroetan egin zion ihes Juleni, Foratata muinoa gainditu eta Formigal eta Sallent de Gallegora alderako jaitsiera elkarrekin egin ostean, 70. Km inguruan. “Sallentetik Lanuzara errepidez egin behar izan genuen, hor jada indarrak xehatuta nituen eta ezin izan nion Andreuren erritmoari eutsi”. Erreferentzia faltan bigarren postua ondo lotuta zuenik ez zekienez, handik Panticosara arteko bidean estutzen jarraitu zuen, tartean Peña Plana igoz: “gogorra egin zitzaidan azken zati hori, baina badakit halako distantziei neurria hartzen eta asmatu nuen sufritzen”.
