We all want zero-emission mobility. What we don’t yet have is an optimum drive train concept that meets all requirements. Nevertheless, there are possibilities on the way to this. Each has its own strengths with regard to driving profiles, route distances, and peoples’ different mobility needs. And, in all areas, highly-efficient components and component systems from make a valuable contribution. For new forms of inner-city mobility, for sustainable everyday driving between our work and our homes, or for emission-minimized long-distance travel and highway driving. 5 KM

MICROMOBILITY

4.2 Beijing, New York, Manila – more than one half of the world’s BILLION population lives in mega-cities and urban agglomerations. Creative goods and people transportation concepts are emerg- live in cities today – and the trend is ing at breathtaking speed. Sustainable and forward-looking increasing with electric power train concepts for all forms of transportation. You can continue to count on us in this new world of electrified micromobility. For example, with our solutions and concepts for small and agile electrified vehicles or pedelec e-Drive systems. This is how we bundle competencies and exploit synergies. We call this: “Electrified Urban Mobility”.

48 VOLT 48 VOLT ELECTRIC DRIVE UNIT BATTERY MODULE

Compact vehicles in congested cities: with our 48V Electric Drive Unit, comprising an integrated drive unit with a motor, transmission and energy management electronics in com bination with a matched battery module, we have the ideal solution for this. Minimal installation effort, safe handling and a transmission with scalable gear ratios are only a few of the positive aspects, and make the package equally attrac tive for the hybridization of larger vehicles (e-axles in a P4 architecture).

THE RHEINMETALL MICRO E-DRIVE SYSTEM A further element for future, zero-emission short-range mobility is demonstrated by our pedelec solution. The Rheinmetall Group start-up has taken an innovative system, and has developed and totally re-thought it: an ultra-compact and light-weight 48V drive system for maximum design freedom, finely-tuned Bike Intelligence with a display, and a battery unit with a high power-to-weight ratio. 7 MEDIUM DISTANCE Just driving short distances? Only in the city? Or from home to work in the city? That’s where battery-powered electric vehicles are the stars of the show. This is where their effi- ciency really comes into play. Charging times, battery size, and the resources required remain viable. More and more vehicles with fuel cells and plug-in hybrids – or combinations of the two – are already on the starting grid for longer journeys or commutes with good charging and H2 refueling infrastructures.

Regardless of the concept you have in mind, we are your transfor mation partner with all you need for electric drive trains, efficient thermal management and fuel cell technology. We also have the answers you need when it comes to lightweight construction – such as structural components for the suspension and chassis or housings for batteries, engines and transmissions. We have the answers to all aspects of “Sustainable E-Mobility”.

A business trip across the country, a vacation along the coast – in the medium-term, it will be hard to find an alternative to combustion engines. Diesel engines in particular are still the long-haul specialists. When it comes to sustainability, combus- tion engines have made significant advances. Over the past ten years, their CO2 emissions have been reduced by more than 20%. And the potentials are not yet exhausted. For example, in a mild-hybrid vehicle or a plug-in hybrid. Or in combination with synthetic, climate-neutral fuels. This is why we are convinced that the combustion engine will continue to play a leading role OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE as an essential component of “Efficient Low Emission Mobility” REDUCTION OF CO2 EMISSIONS for quite some time to come. EURO 6D-TEMP-EVAP-ISC – EVAPORATIVE HYDRO- CARBON EMISSIONS

Emissions are not only blown out of the exhaust pipe – we also have our eyes on the unburned hydrocarbons from the fuel tank. The threshold limit formerly emitted in a 24-hour time window now applies to a 48-hour time window. This is a challenge, particularly for gasoline engines. Due to its shorter hydrocarbon chains, this fuel evaporates much more easily than diesel fuel. This is where our Vapor Pumps and Fuel Tank Isolation Valves come into play.

FUEL TANK ELECTRIC ISOLATION VALVE VAPOR PUMP

We continuously contribute to increasing vehicle efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. For example, by exhaust gas recirculation for gasoline engines, demand-based fluid man- agement of coolants and oil, reduced friction losses in the base engine, optimization of air path and weight reduction in the entire vehicle.
