Still unbelievable that he is no longer with us, he still, and will always remain supreme, the originator. His son, Duncan Jones, paid tribute to his late father and an early demo of ‘Let’s Dance’ was released to celebrate Bowie’s birthday. Since Bowie’s death in 2016, fans in the UK have bought over 5 million records including 3.1 million singles. His 25th and final studio album Blackstar was released just two days before his death and went on to be one of the top ten biggest albums of 2016, making it Bowie's most popular album since his death. He had unparalleled access to some of the most important bands over the last four decades, his most famous work being that of Kurt Cobain and the early days of Nirvana right up until Kurt’s death in 94. He shot the cover of their seminal ‘Nevermind’ album, which sold over 30 million copies worldwide and brought grunge to a mainstream audience. ‘Kurt Cobain 50: The Grunge Photographs of Michael Lavine’ is an exhibition showing 50 original photographs plus other symbolic groups of the 90s. The exhibition is currently at ‘Ono Arte Contemporanea’ in Bologna Italy until 31st Jan 2018. Grunge fashion has been a massive trend recently and its influence can be seen on many runways. We’re gonna get these people involved… and we’ll just do some special shows worldwide, which will be good – a tribute to Lem and to the band maybe, but it wouldn’t be an ongoing thing. During their career they have made 21 studio albums, have sold over 13.5 million records in the US alone and were indicted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame in 2017. The band will be 50 this year and have planned a very special anniversary tour starting this March in the UK then across to Europe. Although band members have changed over the decades, the band’s iconic logo hasn’t. Designed by artist Roger Dean, the band’s artwork is stunning and remains current and fresh.
