English Class VII Lesson 1:- Hopscotch Introduction:- A street game is a sport or game that is played on city streets rather than a prepared field or area. Street games are usually simple playtime activities for children that can be played near where they live. The game of Numbers Hopscotch is different from normal Hopscotch because the player hops on alternate numbers and shouldn‟t step on the wrong square. It is an informal street game played in rural areas and small town all over South Asia as well as Combodia, Turkey and Italy. The game is played with two sticks: a large one called Danda, which is used to hit smaller one, the Gulli. Why was the writer astounded? Ans The author was astounded because he saw Gaya playing the match of Gulli-Danda with his old friends with the same skill, which he possessed in his childhood. Gaya hadn‟t exhibited this skill one day before when he played the match with the author. SUBJECT ENRICHMENT MONTH’S ACTIVITY The grid of Hopscotch was made in a chart. The class was divided into three rows. Each row was asked to give a grid number and two letters to the next row and that row was asked to make words with those letters and the grid number. The turn was passed on row-wise.
