Not for me!!! I hate standing in front of a grill, waiting, waiting, can I turn the meat over now, don’t let it get black, oh crap, the chickens on fire!!! Or, I open the lid just at the moment the wind blows in my direction, and I get a face full of smoke, and I am coughing and choking, what fun, NOT. But, the trouble for me starts before I even get to the cooking part. LIGHTING THE GRILL, turn the little knob, click, click, click and NO whoosh of flame lighting. Okay, turn off the knob, check the tank, turn the knob again, click, click…Turn it off, because gas is escaping and it is going to blow up. Now I am afraid to light it. Yes, there is a lot of cursing going on at this point. I run back inside the house, to check the vegetables and potatoes on the stove. Run back outside, hope the gas has dissipated and I start over. Finally get it lit, get the chicken on, go back inside check the other food on the stove, run back outside open the lid, well just refer back to the beginning of this story, you know it goes downhill from here. SMARTGRILL, has solved my problem. For a mere $6,999.00, the GRILL OF THE FUTURE, lights at the sound of your voice. Yelling at the GRILL, “light, damn it, light “ will actually work now. OR…. … you can use an APP on your cell phone to get the BBQ to light. THERE TRULY IS an app for everything. Or, I can just wait for my daughter to BBQ her dinner (she lives next door), run over, throw on a couple of pieces of chicken and she yells back when it has finished cooking. WORKS FOR ME…!!! I have to remember to tell her I love her the BEST…BBQ season is here…. So ITALIAN TRIVIA QUESTIONS [Type the recipient name] 1. IN WHAT CATEGORY WAS AT NOBEL PRIZE AWARDED TO LUIGI PIRANDELLO? 2.

  • Discography of the Mainstream Label
Discography of the Mainstream Label Mainstream was founded in 1964 by Bob Shad, and in its early history reissued material from Commodore Records and Time Records in addition to some new jazz material. The label released Big Brother & the Holding Company's first material in 1967, as well as The Amboy Dukes' first albums, whose guitarist, Ted Nugent, would become a successful solo artist in the 1970s. Shad died in 1985, and his daughter, Tamara Shad, licensed its back catalogue for reissues. In 1991 it was resurrected in order to reissue much of its holdings on compact disc, and in 1993, it was purchased by Sony subsidiary Legacy Records. 56000/6000 Series 56000 mono, S 6000 stereo - The Commodore Recordings 1939, 1944 - Billy Holiday [1964] Strange Fruit/She’s Funny That Way/Fine and Mellow/Embraceable You/I’ll Get By//Lover Come Back to Me/I Cover the Waterfront/Yesterdays/I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues/I’ll Be Seeing You 56001 mono, S 6001 stereo - Begin the Beguine - Eddie Heywood [1964] Begin the Beguine/Downtown Cafe Boogie/I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me/Carry Me Back to Old Virginny/Uptown Cafe Boogie/Love Me Or Leave Me/Lover Man/Save Your Sorrow 56002 mono, S 6002 stereo - Influence of Five - Hawkins, Young & Others [1964] Smack/My Ideal/Indiana/These Foolish Things/Memories Of You/I Got Rhythm/Way Down Yonder In New Orleans/Stardust/Sittin' In/Just A Riff 56003 mono, S 6003 stereo - Dixieland-New Orleans - Teagarden, Davison & Others [1964] That’s A- Plenty/Panama/Ugly Chile/Riverboat Shuffle/Royal Garden Blues/Clarinet

  • Morgana King, Jazz Singer and 'Godfather'
8/18/2018 Morgana King, Jazz Singer and ‘Godfather’ Actor, Is Dead at 87 - The New York Times Morgana King, Jazz Singer and ‘Godfather’ Actor, Is Dead at 87 By Neil Genzlinger Aug. 15, 2018 Before March 1972, Morgana King was known as a jazz singer with an impressive vocal range and an ability to put a distinctive spin on an eclectic selection of songs. But by late that month, although she remained an accomplished singer, millions of moviegoers thought of her as Vito Corleone’s wife. Ms. King had never been in a feature film before playing Mama Corleone in “The Godfather,” which after its release that month became one of the most acclaimed movies of all time. She was in “Godfather II” as well and had a smattering of other television and film credits, but music was always her passion. She had been singing since she was a teenager and had a breakthrough in 1964 with her much‑admired version of “A Taste of Honey,” the title track of an album she released that year. It brought her a Grammy nomination for best new artist; the award went to the Beatles. “She has, she says, a four‑octave range,” John S. Wilson wrote of her in The New York Times in 1970, “and she draws on all its resources as the basis for a vocal style that is an astounding mélange of humming, singing and vocalizing, creating tapestries of supple sounds that float in the air, that slither sinuously around a melody, that dip down to some visceral foundation or soar softly off into the stratosphere as an ethereal mutter.” Ms.

1 The TENORSAX of SELDON POWELL Solographer: Jan Evensmo Last update: Feb. 16, 2021 2 Born: Lawrenceville, Virginia, Nov. 15, 1928 Died: New York, Jan. 25, 1997 Introduction: I remember very well our first encounter with Seldon Powell; through the exciting 1956 Atlantic album “Boss Of The Blues” with Joe Turner. We enjoyed his music very much from the start, and realizing the enormous number of recording sessions he had taken part in, we called him a ‘tenorsax potato’, suitable for all jazz dishes. It was meant as an honour. In our opinion, SP did never get the recognition he deserved History: First musical studies at Brooklyn and New York Conservatories 1947-49 and graduated at Juillard 1957. First job with the band of Betty Mays 1949, Tab Smith at Savoy Ballroom 1949 and Dec. 1949 with Lucky Millinder until 1951. Did army service 1951-52 playing in bands in France and Germany where he was stationed. After discharge returned to New York and played with Sy Oliver, Erskine Hawkins, Neal Hefti, Louis Bellson and Don Redman 1952-55. Studied at Juillard. In 1958 he travelled to Europe with Benny Goodman’s band, and then he played briefly with Woody Herman. In the 1960s he worked chiefly for ABC TV but also recorded heavily. His numerous recordings as a studio musician include many made in the late 1960s and early 1970s with soul and soul-jazz musicians, including Groove Holmes (ca. 1973) and sessions in the big bands that accompanied Gato Barbieri (1974) and Anthony Braxton and Dizzy Gillespie (both 1976).

Part 1 of Selected Discography Milt Hinton as Leader or Co-leader Compiled by Ed Berger (1949-2017) - Librarian, journalist, music producer, photographer, historian, and former Associate Director, Institute of Jazz Studies, Rutgers University. It is estimated that between 1930 and 1995, Milt Hinton performed on more than nine hundred jazz record sessions. He made at least as many records, especially during the ’50s and ’60s, that featured hundreds of non-jazz performers, as well as countless jingles and film and television soundtracks. Specific and comprehensive information about Hinton’s recordings outside of jazz is nearly impossible to obtain. A partial list of non-jazz performers with whom he recorded includes: Paul Anka, Pearl Bailey, Harry Belafonte, Tony Bennett, Brook Benton, Archie Blyer, Teresa Brewer, Diahann Carroll, the Clancy Brothers, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Sam Cooke, Bing Crosby, Vic Damone, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr., the Drifters, Percy Faith, Eddie Fisher, Connie Francis, Judy Garland, Jackie Gleason, Arthur Godfrey, Eydie Gormé, Skitch Henderson, John Lee Hooker, Lena Horne, Langston Hughes, Mahalia Jackson, Jack Jones, Frankie Laine, Steve Lawrence, Guy Lombardo, Johnny Mathis, Paul McCartney, Bette Midler, the Mills Brothers, Mantovani, Willie Nelson, Patti Page, Leontyne Price, Leon Redbone, Della Reese, Debbie Reynolds, Frank Sinatra, Kate Smith, Barbra Streisand, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Bobby Vinton, Dionne Warwick, Roger Williams, Jackie Wilson, and Hugo Winterhalter. The recording location is the New York City area unless otherwise noted. CDs have the same title as the LPs unless otherwise noted. [MH comp] indicates that Hinton was the composer or co-composer of a piece.
