Tuesday 7:15am Plymouth: 49er RV Resort Frank Halvorson brought us up-to-date on happenings at the Hotel Leger in Moke Hill. A popular TV Wednesday 12:00 show undertakes to re-vamp decrepit hotels in a blitz fashion and then air the results. -

1953 HUDSON CARS DESCRIBED 1953 HUDSON - GENERAL: A downsized Hudson arrived this year, called the Hudson Jet. It had styling that would be mimicked by the rest of the line in 1954. Gone was the Pacemaker. with its nameplate replaced by a new, lower level Wasp. The upper level Wasp, called the "Super Wasp," and it moved into the former Commodore 6 slot that now disappeared. The Hornet finally supplanted the Commodore 8 completely. The nameplate was retired, putting the 8-cylinder powerplant out to pasture. That L-head I-8, having served twenty long years from 1932 until 1952, was gone. The consolidation of lines and the removal of the Commodore Six and Eight allowed for less tooling in the Wasp-Hornet lines and should have saved money. The problem was that production kept dropping even though the cars were considered popular. The issue at hand was dated styling and the lack of an OHV V-8. At the root of the lower production was Hudson's lack of investment dollars when that trend to V8s and more modern styling was pulling the Big Three away from all other competition. Worse, a good deal the sales problems were the result of Hudson misreading their audience and thinking that these changes weren't needed. Even with the introduction of the Jet, production dropped. And Hudson's racing victories, that outshone all rivals, while earning respect for the brand, did not entice buyers into the showrooms. INNOVATIONS: The Hudson Jet, a smaller, more economical model, was introduced. It was an attempt to drop into the lower price market to pick up sales. -

Introduction: ➢ The power developed inside the engine cylinder is ultimately transmitted to the driving wheels so that the motor vehicle can move on the road. This mechanism is called power transmission. ➢ It consists of clutch, gearbox, universal joint, propeller shaft, final drive, and axle shaft. General arrangement of power transmission system (or) front engine rear wheel drive: ➢ Fig (1) shows that layout of the front engine rear wheel drive. 3 ➢ Power is produced i n s i d e the engine cylinder transmitted to flywheel through crankshaft. ➢ Clutch is conduct with flywheel to engage and disengage drive from the engine to gearbox. ➢ Gearbox consists of s set of gears to change the speed. ➢ The power is transmitted from the gearbox to the propeller shaft through the universal joint and then to the differential through another universal joint. ➢ Finally, the power is transmitted to the rear wheels through the rear axles. Front engine front wheel drives: Fig (2): shows that layout of the front engine front wheel drive. ➢ In this drive the clutch, gear box, differential is arranged in a common housing. ➢ In this arrangement there is no need of separate long propeller shaft for transmitting power to the rear wheels. ➢ Because the engine power is transmitted only for front wheels alone. ➢ Rear axle is dead axles, when front wheels are rolling with power and rear wheels are freely move in the direction of front wheels. 4 Rear Engine rear wheel drive: Fig (3): shows that layout of the rear engine front wheel drive. -

Bulletin No.: PIP5170 Date: Jan-2014 Subject: Driveline Support Torque Tube Automatic Transmission Noise Diagnostic Tip Models: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Equipped with automatic transmission The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern Noise from transmission or driveline. Recommendation/Instructions When diagnosing any noise that may be coming from either the torque tube or automatic transmission do not remove the torque converter bolts to aid in determining root case. The torque converter cannot be moved away from the torque tube far enough to disengage the torque converter pilot from the torque tube. Removal of these bolts and starting the engine will cause the torque converter pilot and propeller shaft transmission flange to become fused together requiring replacement of the torque converter, flex plate and torque tube assembly. The torque converter and the rear flex plate bolts will also need to be replaced. Note: Actively increasing the line pressure with GDS2 software may aid in determining if root cause of the noise is in the transmission or torque tube. Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. -

With a bit of luck and better than expected sales for model year 1954, Hudson Motor now merged into American Motor with Nash was now setting up the outline of a fine new set of Motorcars. The New Hornet Sedan shown above made good use of the re-styled Step-Down bodies now with the most glass erea of any American cars of the period. The NEW 1955 sold well compare with other brands and allow AMC to it's new V-8 in the last production run of the 55 just before model year 1956 started, the cars above came equipped with the famous straight eight. Okay... the redesign of the 1956 still shows the age of the Step-Down (1948) but you gotta admit... it is a pretty acceptable concept for the period and... now equipped with awesome new V-EIGHTs, these babies where the vanguard of the only cars that could rivaled Chrysler products for the next 2 seasons... the 57 Hudson Hornets are hot... still today! The Hudon Italia is also in full production and sales have more than doubled that of the Chevrolet Corvette... The Hudson Jet was removed from the line-up at the end of model year 1954, and the assembly facilities where transfered to Rambler. Rambler and Nash filling the lower and mid-price ranges have also posted impressive gains and the whole line of senior Nash and Hudson cars will be sporting new design for the 1959 model year.. -

OPEL GT TECH NOTES: DRIVELINE When a “thump” is heard and felt when accelerating, it’s time Upper Stop to lift your car and have a close look at your Torque Tube assembly. Components must be replaced when the "donut" develops “Donut” deep cracks or when a bushing fails (such as when the rubber (bearing inside) separates from its round metal end). Left unrepaired, metal fatigue can crack the bracket or allow wear on your pinion gear splines. Opel GT Source now offers a line of heavy-duty parts which can be installed for a more durable repair.
