It is hereby informed that Hon’ble the Chief Justice, on the recommendation of the Hon’ble Computer Committee, has directed that in addition to filing of soft copy on CD-R/DVD-R in Company and Taxation matters, it will be mandatory to file soft copy on CD-R/DVD-R in all Arbitration matters also w.e.f. 1st April 2013 in addition to the existing paper filing of cases. Prepare original text material/documents viz. index, notice of motion, memo of parties, main petition, interlocutory applications, etc. in MS-word or Open office, as per format already prescribed for hard copy. 2. Convert documents into PDF using any PDF converter tool or inbuilt PDF conversion functionality of word processing software. 3. Scan the documents viz. notorized affidavit(s) signed vakalatnama, certified copy of order or award /agreement and annexures etc. (other than text material) using 300 dpi. 4. Merge both type documents, prepared in MS word or open office and scanned,in a single PDF and bookmark the documents strictly as per the index of hard-copy. Burn the merged single file on a CD-R/DVD-R. 5. Present hard-copy, as usual, along with the CD-R/DVD at the Delhi High Court filing counter at the time of filing. (Details of the case be written in black ink using black marker on the CD mailer (padded) cover as well as on CD under the signature of counsel). The Advocate will give an undertaking on the hard-copy in the following format: “Certified that the soft copy filed herewith is a replica of the hard-copy filed.     International Journal of Jaina Studies (Online) Vol. 3, No. 4 (2007) 1-15 A SHORT HISTORY OF JAINA LAW1 Peter Flügel The nineteenth century English neologism ‘Jaina law’ is a product of colonial legal intervention in India from 1772 onwards. 'Jaina law' suggests uniformity where in reality there is a plurality of scriptures, ethical and legal codes, and customs of sect, caste, family and region. The contested semantics of the term reflect alternative attempts by the agents of the modern Indian legal system and by Jain reformers to restate traditional Jain concepts. Four interpretations of the modern term 'Jaina law' can be distinguished: (i) 'Jaina law' in the widest sense signifies the doctrine and practice of jaina dharma, or Jaina ‘religion’. (ii) In a more specific sense it points to the totality of conventions (vyavahāra) and law codes (vyavasthā) in Jaina monastic and lay traditions.2 Sanskrit vyavasthā and its Arabic and Urdu equivalent qānūn both designate a specific code of law or legal opinion/decision, whereas Sanskrit dharma can mean religion, morality, custom and law. (iii) The modern Indian legal system is primarily concerned with the 'personal law' of the Jaina laity. In Anglo-Indian case law, the term 'Jaina law' was used both as a designation for 'Jain scriptures' (śāstra) on personal law, and for the unwritten 'customary laws' of the Jains, that is the social norms of Jain castes (jāti) and clans (gotra). (iv) In 1955/6 Jaina personal law was submerged under the statutory 'Hindu Code', and is now only indirectly recognised by the legal system in the form of residual Jain 'customs' to be proved in court.

    Journal of the Research Society of Pakistan Volume No. 56, Issue No. 1 (January - June, 2019) Muhammad Iqbal Chawla * Muhammad Hameed** Syeda Mahnaz Hassan *** The Jain History, Art and Architecture in Pakistan: A Fresh Light1 Abstract This paper attempts to understand the history, art and architecture of Jains in Pakistan with the new perspective. Among ancient religions of Indian Subcontinent, Jainism is the only one that remained a practicing religion in Pakistan till the country gained independence in 1947. Historical records clearly mention presence of jain community in major cities of Pakistan. Archaeological data consisting of jain temples, community halls and other shrines also throws light on the contribution of jains in the socio-religious, cultural, architectural and artistic activities of the country. Researches related to Indus Valley, Gandhara, Islamic and Hindu art and architecture have overshadowed the study of jain archaeology. Purpose of the present paper is to share what we intend to do regarding the study of Jainism in Pakistan. No major work has been done for the systematic exploration, identification and documentation of the jain built heritage of Pakistan. The Department of Archaeology, University of the Punjab is taking this initiative for the first time to make detailed study of history of Jainism, its rise and decline. The study would highlight glory of the religion and contributions of its followers in social, cultural, economic, artistic and architectural fields. Comparative and analytical study of the jain archaeology would also be made keeping in view variety of the jain building traditions. Awareness among research scholars and local community would also be given to play their role for the preservation of Jain heritage scattered in different parts of Punjab as well as of Sindh province.

Their set of responsibilities has been differentiated for the sake of successful running of the society. Indian society has a culture of respecting women , be it Hindu community, Sikh, Christianity or Jain community. Status of the woman in ancient Indian society was dignified or not, is the main research question. The author shall explore the ancient Indian Law book Bhadrabahu Samhita for the purpose of this study. Verses from Bhadrabahusamhita explain Jaina Law of succession, inheritance and property for disowned son, wife, adopted son etc. The verses from the book have been studied to correlate the content with the variables associated with dignity of woman in that era. This will give us a clear picture of the social as well as legal status of Indian woman in the ancient era. Till now the researches have discussed either legal rights or social dignity only. Proposed research aims at combining the two elements of her status. This knowledge may contribute to improve the present status of Indian society which looks at women with a lower dignity. The research outcome may wake up the sleeping female community and make them aware of their rights of succession and inheritance in parental property.
