Influential accounts suggest that the rise of majoritarianism should give rise to corresponding extremist outbidding in minority parties. Through a detailed case study of an Indian Muslim party in an era of Hindu majoritarianism, this article elaborates a new notion of non-extremist outbidding. It argues that outbidding need not imply appeals that are extremist in the sense that they are exclusionary, or religious, or intransigent. The agency of leaders, relatively neglected, plays a key role in determining the behavior of ethnic parties.

  • Muslim Politics and the 2020 Bihar Election
TIF - Muslim politics and the 2020 Bihar Election JULIEN LEVESQUE December 4, 2020 Asaduddin Owaisi with the newly elected AIMIM MLAs from Bihar | AIMIM (Facebook) The story of the Muslim vote in Bihar is not the triumph of the AIMIM, but the strong desire of the Muslim voter in both majority and minority areas across the state to express herself against the BJP and its allies. In the final outcome of the Bihar assembly elections, what drew attention to some of the successful Muslim candidates was the fact that the All India Muslim Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won five seats in the north- eastern Seemanchal region, where Muslims form about half of the population (from 77.5% in Jokihat to 38% in Araria). However, the AIMIM’s MLAs represent less than a third of the 19 Muslims who were elected to the assembly this year. This shows that there is more to Muslim political participation in Bihar than the AIMIM’s breakthrough. This article offers a typology of the forms of political dynamics among Muslims in Bihar — the basic idea being that Muslim political dynamics are different in minority and majority areas. Page 1 www.TheIndiaForum.in December 4, 2020 Muslim (majority) politics: The AIMIM’s foray in Seemanchal When looking at Muslim political participation in Bihar, one of the interesting characteristics of the state is that it includes both Muslim minority and majority (or near-majority) areas. This leads to two distinct political dynamics. In areas where they are not in a majority, Muslims seem subject to a kind of minority syndrome and thus more concerned with security than with collective assertion.

The International journal of analytical and experimental modal analysis ISSN NO: 0886-9367 POLITICAL PARTIES AND MUSLIMS IN TELANGANA Dr. Mahammad Sharif E.mail: [email protected]. ROOM NO -37. NRS HOSTEL OSMANIA UNIVERSITY. HYDERABAD-500007. TELANGANA INTRODUCTION The social classes in the Muslim community, elitist character of the Indian politics and the domination, cultural or otherwise, of the upper strata in the political arena have given birth to a number of Muslim political parties and groups. These organizations are partly religious and partly political. For them religion is the source of their ideology and political programme. It is the biggest integral element of the so-called identity of the community. It would be wrong to say that entire Muslim leadership belongs to these organizations. But, it exploits and uses their strength in order to consolidate its position within the community as well as outside the community1. With the exception of the Muslims attached to the communist Parties, no section of the Muslim leadership has been critical of the ideology and the programme of Muslim parties and groups. Now a revolution is possible with the change of outlook and change of opinion. it means that Islamic movement has a bright future here2. POLITICAL PARTIES AND MUSLIMS In Telangana State, so many political parties working for befits of the people. The parties fight for the rights and facilities for the below poverty and downtrodden in different parts of the State. Most of the Muslims in the State were under poverty. They don’t have any access to improve their livelihood. They don’t have education facilities in nook and corner of the State.

Pollution Shoots Up In Hyderabad, Finds Echo In Assembly Hyderabad | Written by Divya Vishwanathan | Updated: December 22, 2016 00:18 IST https://www.ndtv.com/hyderabad-news/pollution-shoots-up-in-hyderabad- finds-echo-in-assembly-1640508 Central Pollution Board says Hyderabad is moderately polluted Tests in 21 spots in city shows an alarming rise in air pollution Minister calls for the formation of a 'Clean Air Authority' An alarming increase in the air, water and noise pollution in Hyderabad led to ruckus in the Telangana assembly on Tuesday. It was started by Akbaruddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, who raised concerns about pollution during the Question Hour. It led to heated exchanges, which stopped only after Municipal Administration minister K T Rama Rao addressed the issue. Mr Rama Rao called for immediate measures to contain the situation - part of which he said should be the introduction of a "clean air authority" in the city. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Hyderabad is moderately polluted. But an analysis from 21 different centres across the city has established that polluting industries and 45% vehicular pollution has caused a huge rise in pollution levels, Mr Rama Rao said. The Telangana government has identified 1,545 industries as polluting, of which 385 are present outside the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad. A plan chalked out by the minister suggests that the remaining 1,160 industries should relocate to the Hyderabad Pharma City. To shift the polluting industries, locations outside the Ring Road within a distance of 100 kilometres have been identified.
