    MOUNTAINS & HILLSTATIONS HILL STATION • A hill station is a town located at a higher elevation than the nearby plain which was used by foreign rulers as an escape from the summer heat as temperatures are cooler in high altitudes. MUNNAR ➢ Munnar the famed hill station is located in the Idukki district of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. ➢ Munnar is situated in the Western Ghats range of mountains. ➢ The name Munnar is believed to mean "three rivers", referring to its location at the confluence of the Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. ➢ The hill station had been the summer resort of the British Government during the colonial era. ➢ Munnar also has the highest peak in South India – Anamudi, which towers over 2695 meters ➢ Munnar is also known for Neelakurinji, a rare plant which flowers only once in twelve years. ➢ The Eravikulam National Park, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and tea plantations are its major attractions. To provide insight into magma 3 chamber processes including replenishment and crystallization, crystal size distribution (CSD) 4 profiles of plagioclase feldspar phenocrysts were determined for Quaternary Telica basalts and 5 basaltic andesites. Textural analysis of fourteen highly crystalline lavas (>30 vol.% phenocrysts) 6 indicates that the samples are dominated by sieve-textured plagioclase feldspar phenocrysts 7 whose origin requires thermochemical disequilibrium within the magmatic system. The CSD 8 curves display an inverse relationship between phenocryst length and population density. 9 Concave-up patterns observed for the Telica lava samples can be represented by linear segments 10 that define two crystal populations: a steeply-sloping segment for small crystals (<1.5 mm) and a 11 gently-sloping segment for crystals >1.5 mm in length. The two crystal populations may be 12 explained by magma replenishment and a mixing model in which a mafic magma is introduced 13 to a stable chamber that is petrologically and geochemically evolving. Residence times 14 calculated using the defined linear segments of the CSD curves suggest these magmatic 15 processes occur over time scales on the order of decades to centuries.

Having no expectations allowed us to be surprised at every turn in this small but compact venue. It’s a little bit brewery and tasting space, a little bit restaurant, a bit gift shop and a bit urban art showroom. It’s perfect if you’ve got family or friends visiting or no plans on any given evening. You’ll certainly be surprised by this unusual center of Madrid find. Did you know Mahou is a family-run business? Or that they made a Stout? And an APA (American Pale Ale)? . At Espacio Cervecero each is served on an individually descriptive coaster for each beer but your “beersommelier” will tell you all about it anyway. These little details are what makes this place unique. It feels small in square meters but packs a lot. There are few beers on tap but this allows for more information to be revealed regarding each one. Before you leave, you’ll be asked to evaluate what you’ve tried on one of a few iPads set opposite the bar. If you go through the graffiti and mirror covered hallway, you’ll reach the restaurant. Like myself, you may be distracted by the exposed industrial decor but don’t forget to grab a board game to play at your table on your way in if you like. You’ll find that the menu is limited but gourmet and ideal for tasting a few different plates.

    Dear Secretary Salazar: I strongly oppose the Bush administration's illegal and illogical regulations under Section 4(d) and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act, which reduce protections to polar bears and create an exemption for greenhouse gas emissions. I request that you revoke these regulations immediately, within the 60-day window provided by Congress for their removal. The Endangered Species Act has a proven track record of success at reducing all threats to species, and it makes absolutely no sense, scientifically or legally, to exempt greenhouse gas emissions -- the number-one threat to the polar bear -- from this successful system. I urge you to take this critically important step in restoring scientific integrity at the Department of Interior by rescinding both of Bush's illegal regulations reducing protections to polar bears. Blasko Paraklis, Parish Priest, (949) 830-5480 Zika Tatalovic, Parish Board President, (714) 225-4409 Bishop of Nis Irinej elected as new Patriarch of Serbia In the early morning hours on January 22, 2010, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, locum tenens of the Patriarchate throne, served the Holy Hierarchal liturgy at the Cathedral church. His Eminence served with the concelebration of Bishops: Lukijan of Osijek Polje and Baranja, Jovan of Shumadia, Irinej of Australia and New Zealand, Vicar Bishop of Teodosije of Lipljan and Antonije of Moravica. After the Holy Liturgy Bishops gathered at the Patriarchate court. The session was preceded by consultations before the election procedure. At the Election assembly Bishop Lavrentije of Shabac presided, the oldest bishop in the ordination of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Holy Assembly of Bishops has 44 members, and 34 bishops met the requirements to be nominated as the new Patriarch of Serbia. By the secret ballot bishops proposed candidates, out of which three bishops were on the shortlist, who received more than half of the votes of the members of the Election assembly. In the first round the candidate for Patriarch became the Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, in the second round the Bishop Irinej of Nis, and a third candidate was elected in the fourth round, and that was Bishop Irinej of Bachka. These three candidates have received more that a half votes during the four rounds of voting.
