Nikolay Natchev Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Shumen, 115 Universitetska Str., Shumen, Bulgaria, *E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: In the range of the plenary lecture will be analysed some of the obstacles which may impact negatively the professional careers of the young scientists in Bulgaria. As main trammels to the rapid development of the beginning specialists were identified: 1. The lack of opportunities on the labour market; 2. The bad condition of the facilities and the lack of modern equipment; 3. The inadequate results dissemination strategies; Comments on the listed topics will demonstrate that there are relatively simple solutions to these serious problems. Some advices and guidance will help the students to formulate scientific hypotheses, to concept and write a project, to obtain favourable prise offers for modern equipment, to establish own working groups and to make the right decision in the choice of the journals and books where the products will be published. Some tips on the design of scientific manuscripts will help the young authors in the preparation of a paper. The procedure of submission and revision of scientific articles in bi-reviewed journals will be described in details. In conclusion will be introduced a newly established platform for exchange of scientific information and products

  • Preliminary Study Viewing the Flora of the Upper Mureş Hydrographic
Kun Annamária Preliminary study viewing the fl ora of the Upper Mureş hydrographic basin Kun Annamária RO-540361 Târgu Mureş, str. Măgurei 7/14, Romania, [email protected] Abstract Th e Mureş is one of the most important rivers in the Tisa catchments area. Th e studied area’s surface is about 42 000 hectares and it lies on altitudes between 400-1470 m above sea level. Th is paper presents the taxons found until this moment in the area, comprising a list of taxons of 670 positions. Th e taxons are listed describing their life form, fl oristic element, ecological indexes and protection status. Th e analysis of the fl oristic elements shows that the area’s fl ora is char- acterized by the predominance of the Eurasian element. Th e Carpathian, Dacic, Balcanic and endemic species are about 3,15 %. Th e analysis of life forms shows a high percentage of hemicryptophytes, a fact, which is closely connected to the large surfaces of grasslands and the presence of the grass- layer in diff erent other habitats. Analyzing the ecological indexes, we can see that most of the species belong to the mesophytic (U3-3,5), micromesothermic (T3-3,5) and weaker acid-neutrophiluos (R4-4,5) categories. Key words: Mureş hydrographic basin, species-list. Introduction Th e Mureş River, with its 768 km length is the largest waterway in the Tisa catchment area. Its 30 000 km2 hydrographic area makes it one of the most important rivers of the Carpathian Basin. Its spring is to be found in the Hăşmaşu Mare Mountains, from where, through the Gheorgheni-basin, it gets between the volcanic mountains 63 Biologia | Acta Scientiarum Transylvanica, 15/1, 2007 (Harghita, Gurghiu, Călimani).

UMI films the text directly from the original or copy submitted. Thus, some thesis and dissertation copies are in typewriter face, while others may be from any type of computer printer. The quality of this reproduction is dependent upon the quality of the copy submitted. Broken or indistinct print, colored or poor quality illustrations and photographs, print bleedthrough, substandard margins, and improper alignment can adversely affect reproduction. In the unlikely event that the author did not send UMI a complete manuscript and there are missing pages, these will be noted. • Common Standards Monitoring Guidance for Vascular Plant Species
Common Standards Monitoring Guidance for Vascular Plant Species Version February 2004 ISSN 1743-8160 (online) Issue date: February 2004 Common Standards Monitoring guidance for vascular plant species 1 Introduction This chapter deals with Common Standards Monitoring (CSM) for vascular plants on designated sites, including SSSIs and SACs. It provides guidance on the identification of interest features, attributes, targets and methods of assessment. 2 Defining the interest feature 2.1 The vast majority of citations for biological A/SSSIs will name some plant species as occurring on the site. In most cases this serves a descriptive purpose, naming common plants which are distinctive in a particular habitat or community. It is essential to distinguish between this descriptive purpose and situations in which the named species constitute an interest feature in their own right. The guidance in this chapter deals only with those species which qualify as individual notified features or qualify in combination with other vascular plant species according to the Guidelines for selection of biological SSSIs (NCC, 1989), or according to similar guidelines that have been used to select ASSIs, or which appear on the Habitats and Species Directive Annex II. 2.2 Sites that have been notified for individual qualifying species are normally easy to identify by their citations. These species will be in the following categories: listed on Schedule 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, Red Data Book (RDB) species, endemic species, non-endemic species threatened in Europe, declining and regionally rare species, microspecies and hybrids. Apart from Schedule 8 species, for which all sites should be selected, sites for these species should additionally have been selected for either population size or for being the only site in an Area of Search (AOS).
