CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

1. It is customary that when a conductor steps on the podium, there is immediate silence.

2. Be on time to class and all orchestra related activities.

3. BE PREPARED!! This includes having instrument, music, pencil and other accessories ready at the time of rehearsals and performances. Every student will be provided with his or her own folder and music. You are responsible for both and should not share with anyone. If your stand partner is absent you should still have your own materials.

4. DO NOT, under any circumstances, touch or play another student’s accessories or instrument, even with their permission. Only percussion students are allowed to touch percussion equipment.

5. DO NOT talk while Mr. Gresko is rehearsing the group or working with a particular section, even if it is about the music. The less you talk the more time we can spend making music. If you have a question, please raise your hand.

6. When rehearsing, sit with good posture and horn carriage, sitting on the edge of your chair, back straight with feet flat on the floor. Bad habits are unbreakable the day of a performance, so change them now.

7. Upon entering the room, you should get your instrument and music immediately and go directly to your seat. Be ready to warm‐up 3 minutes after the late bell rings.

8. Daily practice and progress is expected.

9. No hats are to be worn during rehearsals or other activities without prior approval.

10. If food is to be allowed in the room, everyone must clean up after themselves.

11. Keep the room clean. Pick‐up after yourself and others.

12. Book bags should be placed under your seats or in your locker during rehearsal.

13. DO NOT leave unattended items in the room during the day. Use lockers or make arrangements with Mr. Gresko if you need to secure an item.

14. Cursing will not be tolerated.

15. Respect others’ strengths and weaknesses. We are all here to learn and improve.

16. All instruments must be put away in lockers and closets after each rehearsal.

17. DO NOT leave any instruments unattended on the floor or on a music stand. Put instruments in their cases when not in use.

18. If you choose to use a locker, you must use a lock and provide the combination. Lock up everyday.
