ANNUAL REPORT 2015 16_A70_TV_Acad_Ad.qxp_Layout 1 7/8/16 11:43 AM Page 1 PROUD MEMBER OF »CBS THE TELEVISION ACADEMY 2 ©2016 CBS Broadcasting Inc. MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AS THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF CONTENT HAVE INCREASED in what is widely regarded as television’s second Golden Age, so have employment opportunities for the talented men and women who create that programming. And as our industry, and the content we produce, have become more relevant, so has the relevance of the Television Academy increased as an essential resource for television professionals. In 2015, this was reflected in the steady rise in our membership — surpassing 20,000 for the first time in our history — as well as the expanding slate of Academy-sponsored activities and the heightened attention paid to such high-profile events as the Television Academy Honors and, of course, the Creative Arts Awards and the Emmy Awards. Navigating an industry in the midst of such profound change is both exciting and, at times, a bit daunting. Reimagined models of production and distribution — along with technological innovations and the emergence of new over-the-top platforms — have led to a seemingly endless surge of creativity, and an array of viewing options. As the leading membership organization for television professionals and home to the industry’s most prestigious award, the Academy is committed to remaining at the vanguard of all aspects of television. Toward that end, we are always evaluating our own practices in order to stay ahead of industry changes, and we are proud to guide the conversation for television’s future generations. -

Barber Theater Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare Directed by Danielle Roos January 31–February 9 Josephine Louis Theater Information and tickets at communication.northwestern.edu/wirtz The Waa-Mu Show is vying for global design domination. The set design for the 88th annual production, For the Record, called for a massive 11-foot-diameter rotating globe suspended above the stage and wrapped in the masthead of the show’s fictional newspaper, the Chicago Offering. Northwestern’s set, scenery, and paint shops are located in the Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts, but Waa-Mu is performed in Cahn Auditorium. How to pull off such a planetary transplant? By deflating Earth. The globe began as a plain white (albeit custom-built) inflatable balloon, but after its initial multisection muslin wrap was created (to determine shrinkage), it was deflated, rigged, reinflated, motorized, map-designed, taped for a paint mask, primed, painted, and unpeeled to reveal computer-generated, to-scale continents. -

Consumer Propensity Report by Category
Consumer Propensity Report Marketing and Merchandising Intelligence for Local Business The Consumer Propensity Report (CPR) shows the lifestyle, product, and psychographic likelihood indices for the consumers within the trade area being analyzed. Major retail, restaurant, grocery, and consumer packaged goods firms use this very same information to drive marketing and merchandising decisions. Each analyzed item is assigned a propensity index score with 100 being average. For example, if the consumers within a trade score a 120 for a given analysis item you know that those consumers are 20% more likely to participate in or purchase that item than the average American household. A propensity index score of 80 would indicate that those consumers would be 20% less likely than the average American household to participate in or purchase that item. Information is provided for 32 major categories with over 4,800 total line items. Please note that line items are based upon national‐level purchasing and lifestyle characteristics. These line items are then correlated to the underlying household characteristics of the consumers within the trade area being analyzed. Some line items may not be necessarily relevant or available currently in your market or region. The index score in these situations serves to indicate the degree to which the consumers would participate in or purchase that item if it were relevant and available. Often this is taken as an opportunity for expansion of a similar brand or concept within the category. CPR Categories Apparel -

[BROOKLYN NY—OCTOBER 2ND, 2013] After garnering over 12,000 fans on Facebook, Girl on Girl director, Jodi Savitz, is reaching out to the public for support. Beginning October 2nd, Savitz will launch a 35-day crowdfunding campaign on the popular fundraising site, Indiegogo, with the goal of raising $100,000 to fund the first phase of production. So far, Girl on Girl has proven its worth through its growing international fan base, and its sponsorship from New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and Curve Magazine. Unlike any documentary film to date, Girl on Girl focuses its lens on the lives of feminine lesbians, and invites the audience to discover what life is like for women whose identity is incessantly trivialized and stigmatized, both outside of and within queer spaces. Girl on Girl challenges assumptions of what society imagines a lesbian to look like and, for the first time, addresses the issue of feminine lesbians feeling invisible even after coming out. The independently produced film features such ‘celesbians’ as Lauren Bedford Russell (The Real L Word: Season 3) and Huffington Post columnist and award-winning lesbian porn producer, Jincey Lumpkin (JuicyPinkBox.com), along with several other women from around the country, including New York, Florida, Utah, and North Carolina.
