Arf! A Canine Musical of Kindness, Courage, and Calamity 2nd Grade Musical February 13th 6:30 show (students arrive at 6pm) Johnson/Phipps/Ramirez/Suggs 7:15 show (students arrive at 6:45) Gensler/Brumfield/Casey/Espinoza Dear parents, We are excited about our upcoming show and can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on! Auditions are complete and below you will see the costume assigned to your child’s class. If your student is bringing home a script they need to be dressed as the character listed for their assigned part. Costumes can be as simple or elaborate as you would like to make them! A very basic costume idea would be to do a solid color sweat suit with a pair of ears on their head. Please do not cover their faces, but a little faceprint would be great! If you want to attach ears to a headband or ball cap that might help them stay on. See below for more detailed description of costume for your class! Military Dogs - Johnson and Espinoza Everyone needs either a green camo shirt or pants. Use a brown or black top/pants to go with it along with pointy ears and tail! Ears can be attached to a camo hat as well. Instead of a collar, dog tags would be great! Dalmations - Suggs and Brumfield Solid white shirt and pants. Add black spots however you would like. They need a pair of matching ears and tail, and a red “collar” - a red ribbon around their neck would be perfect! Boxers - Boys from Phipps, Ramirez, Casey, and Gensler Brown sweatpants and sweatshirts. Adding a white tummy would be cute! Add long knee length white socks over the pants. They are “boxers” so you can add a pair of blue or red white and blue boxing/athletic shorts and wrap their wrists with white tape, too! They need ears, short tails, and a white or blue collar - ribbon around the neck is great! Poodles - Girls from Phipps, Ramirez, Casey, and Gensler Wear a plain white long sleeved top and a pastel poodle skirt with white leggings or tights underneath. Curly pigtails with coordinating bows would be a cute addition! Don’t forget the tail and a matching collar! SPEAKING PART COSTUMES - EVERYONE should have ears, a tail, and a collar! You can Google an image of the dog breed to help with tail lengths and ear shapes. Benny the Beagle - Wear a long sleeved, plain dark brown t-shirt and black pants. Add tall white socks pulled over the pants to create “Socks.” Conner Irish Setter - Wear all brown (a reddish brown would be ideal) and add long, shaggy ears. Add green plaid accessories! This could be a beret, a sash, a kilt, etc! Chow - Wear all black. It would be awesome to have a hoodie with extra fabric or felt fringed around the opening and the ears added to it! Shih Tzu - Wear all gray or white. It would be great to have hair Hal up in a very high ponytail with a bow! Barney the Basset Hound - Wear all brown and add super long ears. Use face paint or makeup to make eyes look bigger Terry Terrier, Rex Retriever Polly Pomeranian, Patty Pointer - Wear all brown. Add accessories to represent your dog breed! ChiChi Chihuahua - Wear all white or all khaki and add a sombrero with ears! Alfie Afghan - Wear solid tan - add fringe made of felt down the arms and legs.
