Meijer Simply Give Holiday 2020 Campaign

Our Pastoral Area Food Pantry has once again been chosen to participate in the Meijer Simply Give Holiday Campaign. The campaign began on Sunday, October 25 on goes to Saturday, January 2, 2021.

Each purchase of a Simply Give donation card is a $10 donation to the Food Pantry. There are Simply Give donation cards at each parish or at the checkout lanes at the Stone Creek Meijer store.

Just pick up a donation card from your parish or at the store, pay for it along with your purchases and your donation is captured for the Simply Give Program. These donation cards are for purchase only at the Stone Creek Meijer store. The cards can be used repeatedly; you do not have to turn them in at the time of your donation.

There will be two Double Match Days during this campaign: Tuesday, December 1 and Saturday, December 12. On the Double Match Day for every $10 donation card purchased, Meijer will match it with $20, resulting in a $30 donation to our Pastoral Area Food Pantry!

If you do not shop at the Stone Creek Meijer store and want to participate in the program, just put a donation in an envelope with “Food Pantry Simply Give Program” written on the outside and put it in the collection basket during Masses prior to the double match days. The Food Pantry volunteers will purchase a card with your donation on the Double Match Days.

This yearly fundraiser with the Meijer family is the largest fundraiser for our Pastoral Area Food Pantry. Your support of the Meijer Simply Give Program is very much appreciated. If you have any questions about this program, please contact the Food Pantry at 825-0618, Ext. 117. Thank you!!

Pastoral Area Food Pantry Update… When the Coronavirus pandemic came upon us all in March and many things shut down, our Pastoral Area Food Pantry had to immediately change also. We didn’t want to shut our doors. So we went from a choice pantry where our neighbors came in and shopped for their food to a drive thru pantry where we give bags of food depending on the size of the family. A big thank you to our volunteers who made this happen in one day!! Since that one day in March, hundreds of bags of food are being made up regularly. We will continue with the drive-thru pantry until it is safe to have our neighbors come into the pantry once again. Given the COVID situation, we have decided to not have our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas give away. In order for these programs to happen we meet one-on-one with our families. It is just not safe for our volunteers or our families to sit down with us and gather this information at this time. We are sorry that there will be no Christmas tags distributed at Masses this year. We know many, many of you supported this program in the past and our families were always very appreciative. This year we will give Thanksgiving dinners the four weeks prior to Thanksgiving to those who come through the drive thru. Then from Thanksgiving until Christmas we will be giving Christmas dinners. These dinners are in addition to the regular food that the families receive when they come to the pantry in November and December. Thank you to all of you who have donated monetarily to our Pastoral Area Food Pantry, to those who donate food and to home gardeners who bring us fresh produce out of your gardens. A very special thank you to the volunteers who put on rubber gloves and masks and make this all happen for our neighbors in need. Charles C.
