SERMON SERIES: EXCUSE-FREE LIVING Pastor Neil Acheampong Message #3: God Pushes Us Beyond Our Excuses, Part 2 Covenant Family Chapel Foundational Text: 1:4-19 July 25, 2021

God Pushes Us Beyond Our Excuses, Part 2 Review In our last lesson, we saw how God pushed beyond his excuses. As Moses, God pushes us beyond our Excuses by 1) By Assuring us of His Presence – Exodus 3:11-12 2) By Reminding us of His Faithfulness - Exodus 3:13-15 3) By Cultivating in Us Courage and Faith – Exodus 4:1-5 4) By Raising Someone to Help Us – Exodus 4:10, 12, 14, 16 Today’s Focus: God Pushes Us Beyond Our Excuses, Part 2

Jeremiah’s Call – Jeremiah 1:4-5

Others called like Jeremiah - Isaiah 49:5; Romans 8:29

Jeremiah’s Excuses - Jeremiah 1:6

1. I don’t know how to speak - I am not eloquent for this type of public ministry

2. I am too young - He is emphasizing his lack of experience. I am not well prepared for this work.

God’s Answer to Jeremiah’s Excuses - Jeremiah 1:7-10

But the Lord said to me, say not, I am only a youth; for you shall go to all to whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. (Jeremiah 1:7, AMPC)

As Jeremiah, God Pushes us beyond our excuses by

1) Reminding Us of Our Authority – Jeremiah 1:7

Our authority as believers in Christ - :19

2) Stressing to Us His Protection – Jeremiah 1:8

3) Touching Us in Our Area of Need – Jeremiah 1:9

Example of God’s Touch - Matthew 8:3

4) Making Our Mission Clear – Jeremiah 1:10

God used two (2) metaphors to describe Jeremiah’s mission:

As a farmer he was to root out and plant. As an architect, he was to pull down, destroy, overthrow and build.

• Root out, pull down, destroy and overthrow represent his mission to pronounce judgment • Build and plant represents his mission to pronounce blessings

Your mission as a child of God is to root out, pull down, destroy and overthrow and after that we have to build and plant.

5) Confirming Our Calling– Jeremiah 1:11-16

God confirmed Jeremiah’s call by giving him two visions.

a. The Blossoming Almond Tree – Jeremiah 1:11-12

b. The Boiling Pot tilting to the North – Jeremiah 1:13-16

For you and I, God says I will confirm my call in your life so don’t be afraid to set out and fulfill it.

6) Asking Us to take Action Now – Jeremiah 1:17-19

May God push you beyond your excuses !!!!!!!! Pastor’s Welcome
