From my vantage point as the new principal , FRXOGQ·W KHOS EHLQJ VWUXFN E\ KRZ FORVHO\ WKH ideals and goals of the Hall of Fame coincide with my impressions of the St. Mary community as a whole. By definition, a Hall of Fame is a celebration of tradition and excellence. The pursuit of excellence has always been at the forefront of all aspects of life here at St. Mary HS, be it athletics, academics or the development of character. In all these areas, the traditions developed here over many decades echo throughout the halls today. The celebration of new inductees into the Hall of Fame becomes another link which ties the excellence of past achievement with the goals and aspirations of our students today. This Hall of Fame induction celebrates athletic achievement, of being remembered among the great athletes and contributors at St. Mary HS. Behind that achievement of notable results, we also celebrate the dedication, commitment and hard work it takes to be successful, in athletics and life. Be it a great team or outstanding individual that we applaud, we acknowledge the persistence of effort necessary for achieving that success. No greater lesson can be passed down to all of our students. Once again congratulations and thank you for being outstanding examples and an integral part of our St. Mary community. Go Gaels! It will be difficult to surpass the success of our last Banquet, but many months of hard work have gone into preparing tonight’s festivities. After the outpouring of goodwill produced at the last Banquet, the Hall of Fame Committee went back to work on nominating candidates. Dozens of hours were spent reviewing articles in the local newspapers detailing the athletic exploits of the candidates. The actual voting on tonight’s inductees was preceded by the presentation of written and oral biographies on each of the candidates. By subjecting the candidates to this “crucible” of scrutiny, we believe that we have found an illustrious group of Inductee s. The work of the Hall of Fame Committee goes on throughout the entire year, and we welcome comments, suggestions and recommendations of interested Alumni and friends. St. Mary Alumni Association and its Athletic Hall of Fame extend their warm congratulations to this years Inductees, and wish them and their families continued happiness and good fortune. Morrone – 1997 Marc Morrone was certainly a force to be reckoned with during his four years at St. Mary High School in the mid-90’s. A three sport athlete, Marc was always in the forefront as a playmaker, leader and teammate. Our inductee began his varsity football career with a start on Thanksgiving day in 1993 in his freshman year. In football Marc was a letter winner in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. A much respected captain in his senior year, he inspired the Gaels to continue their winning ways in the 90’s. His stellar play on the offensive and in particular, the defensive line, earned him All League , First Team honors in his senior season and All-Bergen County Defense Honorable Mention in 1996. As a wrestler Marc was an intimidating foe in the heavyweight category. As a captain of the inaugural teams of 1995 and 1996, our inductee secured District 16 Wrestling second place in 1995 and third place in 1996. His grappling skills also earned him sixth place overall in the Bergen County wrestling tournament in 1996 and a well-deserved spot on the Bergen Record Wrestling Honor Roll. As a baseball player, Marc shined at third base and on the mound. A two-time captain in 1996-and 1997, Marc was voted onto the All-Bergen County team of 1996 and the Herald News All-Area team as a third basemen. His First team selections in the BCSL Olympic Division as a third basemen in 1996 and 1997 earned him the reputation as an outstanding league opponent. Marc batted .384 with 25 hits in 22 games in 1996 and improved to a sizzling .431 average with 9 doubles, 28 runs scored and 20 RBI’s in 1997. As a pitcher in 1997, our inductee soared to a sparkling 8–1 record. In 1997 Marc garnered the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete awards. He also was the recipient of Unico’s National New Jersey Brian Piccolo Memorial Award, and topped off a glittering career with the Bob Blum award at St. Mary for Scholar Athlete of the Year. Upon graduation from St. Mary, Marc attended Fordham University where he lettered for four years in football and earned his degree in Public Accounting. Marc is currently a financial planner with Fidelity Investments, and lives in Rutherford with his wife and two children. Toni Roselli – 2004 Toni Roselli was a skillful, hardworking performer in soccer, basketball and track during her years at St. Mary. A four year starter in soccer, our inductee was a dominating sweeper who brought intensity and leadership to the playing field in her role as team captain in her junior and senior seasons. In acknowledgment of her stellar play during her senior season, Toni received 2nd team All-League honors. On the hardcourt, Toni was a scrappy, sharp-shooting guard who earned four varsity letters and scored 1,024 career points. During her four year career, she was the indomitable force for four league championship teams that amassed a 71-1 league record. As a junior, our inductee averaged 11.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, and 4.2 assists per game. In her senior season, Toni averaged 14.6 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 65% behind the 3 point line. Toni was selected to the 2nd Team All-League team as a sophomore, and received 1st team All-League, 1st team All-Area, and 2nd team All-County honors for her junior season. In recognition of her sterling accomplishments in her senior season, Toni earned 1st team All-League, 1st team All-Area, and 1st team All-County honors. Toni was also invited to play in the prestigious Bergen/Passaic All Star game. In track, our inductee was a talented runner who earned 3 varsity letters while competing in the 400 intermediate hurdles, the 400 and 800 meters, the long jump and triple jump. After graduation from St, Mary, Toni went on to play four inspired years of basketball at Rutgers Newark where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
