Suvro K. Banerjee

My name is Suvro Banerjee and I am asking for your support as I run for re-election to the Board of Managers, where I currently hold the position of Secretary. I have a somewhat unique perspective on life at Village Mall: My parents were some of the first homeowners at the complex when Building I opened in January of 197 4, and my family has lived here continuously since then. We now own two units in Building I and one in Building II. Many things have changed during the 45 years since my family first moved in, but Village Mall has always remained a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I would like to help us remain a vibrant, friendly community and that is why I am running for re-election.

I am a State Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). As a born and raised resident, I spent all my school years in Queens and including attending . I have a bachelor's and master's degree in Math from (NYU) and another master's degree in Accounting from . I started my accounting career at KPMG in 2001 after teaching Math at NYU for 5 years. Since 2004, I have held high-level accounting positions at organizations such as the New York State Society of CPAs, and the City University of New York (CUNY). I am currently an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC).

I was first appointed to the Board in 2015 because, during my career, I have successfully dealt with many of the issues that faced Village Mall then, such as capital improvements, contract negotiations and the creation and monitoring of budget projections. I ran for election in 2016 and won a 3-year term because of my ability to work successfully with other Board members, even though I did not always agree with them. I believe it is important to hear all the different perspectives there are on an issue that affects all of us. I also believe every homeowner should be treated with respect, something which I did not feel always occurred before I joined the Board. I have also been a Director on several volunteer Boards including Pace University's Alumni Board of Directors since 2001. These roles have taught me how to collaborate with other Board members to accomplish goals.

Over the past few years, Village Mall's financial situation has been made stronger than it has ever been by cutting costs, saving diligently, and investing wisely. I was actively involved in the retention of new legal counsel and hiring our current manager, as well as achieving reverse mortgages for our seniors and retirees. I have looked at the costs for Local Law 11 signed by a prior Board and found flaws, which I hope to help prevent when negotiating the up-coming garage overhaul. In the structural and technical fields many accomplishments have been made. Aesthetically, I look forward to our lobby renovations finally getting underway. I am proud to say that I have been involved in these and many other projects and would like to continue my work on behalf of the Village Mall community. I hope you'll give me that opportunity by voting for me. Thank you for your time.
