We extend our warmest and heartfelt greetings to you and your family. If this is your first time with us, we pray that you feel at home. After all, we are gathered together in our Father's house. For more information, please see one of the ushers at the end of the service for a “Welcome Packet.” May God bless you and give you many healthy years in His service. Changes in the Liturgy Entrance Hymn O Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ. Save us, O Son of God, who art risen from the dead, who sing to Thee: Alleluia! Troparion of the Resurrection (Tone Six) When Mary stood at Thy grave looking for Thy sacred body, angelic powers shone above Thy revered tomb, and the soldiers who were to keep guard became as dead men. Thou led hades captive and wast not tempted thereby, Thou didst meet the virgin and didst give life to the world, O Thou who art risen from the dead, O Lord, glory to Thee. Troparion of St. Cyprian (Tone Four) By choosing the Apostles’ way of life, thou hast succeeded to their throne. Inspired by God, thou didst find the way to divine contemplation through the practice of virtue. After teaching the Word of Truth without error, thou didst defend the Faith to the very shedding of thy blood, O Hieromartyr Babylas. Entreat the Lord our God to save our souls. Troparion of the Dormition (Tone One) In thy birth giving O Theotokos, thou didst keep and preserve virginity; and in thy falling asleep thou hast not forsaken the world; for thou wast translated into life, being the Mother of Life. Wherefore by thine intercessions, deliver our souls from death. Kontakion of the Theotokos (Tone Two) O protection of Christians that cannot be put to shame, mediation unto the Creator most constant, O despise not the suppliant voices of those who have sinned; but be thou quick, O good one, to come unto our aid, who in faith cry unto thee: Hasten to intercession, and speed thou to make supplication, thou who dost ever protect, O Theotokos, them that honor thee. 2 Epistle for the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost O Lord, save thy people and bless thine inheritance! Unto thee have I cried, O Lord my God! The Reading is from Saint Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians (4:6-15). Brethren, it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shown in our hearts the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believed, and so we speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people, it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. Gospel for the Second Sunday of St. Luke The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke. (6:31-36) The Lord said: “As you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” 3 أحد اﻷشابين تعُّهد اﻷشاِبين وأَبنائهم الُّروِحِيين المعمدين بتثبيت المعمودية َ َ َ َّ RECONFIRMATION OF BAPTISMALَ ُ VOWS BY GODPARENTS AND GODCHILDَ Immediately before the Creed, the Priest invites the قبل ِق ارءِة دستوِارﻻيما ِن يطلب الكاهن من المصلين أن يتحولوا congregation to face west to reconfirm their َ َ َ ُ ُ َ :baptismal vows, saying ِ إلى الغرب لتجديد س ِر تثبيت المعمودية قائلين: ِِ PRIEST: Do you renounce Satan, and all الكاهن: أَتَ رُف ُض الشيطا َن وك َّل أَ عماله وجمي َع his angels, and all his works, and all his services, and all his pride?
