PRESS RELEASE Shakespeare’s Globe Announces Full Casting for Nick Bagnall’s Love’s Labour’s Lost 17 JULY 2018 Shakespeare’s Globe is delighted to announce full casting for Nick Bagnall’s Love’s Labour’s Lost, opening in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on Thursday 23 August. Dharmesh Patel will play Berowne. Dharmesh returns to the Globe after starring in Barrie Rutter's The Captive Queen in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse earlier this year. Other recent theatre credits include Titus Andronicus, Antony and Cleopatra and Julius Caesar (RSC), The Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Tempest (Shakespeare's Globe). Kirsty Woodward is Princess of France. Kirsty appeared at The Globe in last year’s touring production of Tristan & Yseult, and has also appeared in Globe productions of Pericles and The Winter’s Tale. Her recent television work includes Bad Move (ITV) and Quacks (BBC). Paul Stocker will play King of Navarre, returning to the Globe after appearing as Palamon in Barrie Rutter's The Two Noble Kinsmen earlier this summer. Paul’s other theatre credits include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (West End), Coral, A Thousand Stars Explode in the Sky (National Theatre Studio) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Regent’s Park). Television work includes Doctors, EastEnders and The Rack Pack (BBC). Jade Williams is Rosaline. Jade has appeared in several Globe productions including Matthew Dunster's Doctor Faustus, Raz Shaw's God of Soho and Jessica Swale's Bedlam. Schindler, B.M. Denton, Texas August, 1997 Schindler, Karl W., The War Poems: an intermedia composition for chamber orchestra and chorus. Master ofMusic (Composition), August, 1997, 108 pp., 9 musical examples, 3 figures, 3 titles. Expanding on the concept of Richard Wagner's Gesamptkunstwerk, The War Poems was written to combine various elements for an intermedia composition, including music, five slide projectors, lighting, and costume. The War Poems was written for solo male voice, chamber orchestra, and chorus. Text used in the piece was taken from the writings of the English World War I poet, Siegfried Sassoon. The seven sections of the piece are designated by a specific poem of Sassoon's: Section 1. "Secret Music", 2. "The Kiss", 3. "The Dragon and the Undying", 4. "Dreamers", 5. "A Night Attack", 6. "Does It Matter?", and 7. "A Whispered Tale". PRESS RELEASE Shakespeare’s Globe announces casting for The Taming of the Shrew and Women Beware Women 10 January 2020 Shakespeare’s Globe is delighted to announce full casting for the next two productions opening in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in February: The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Maria Gaitanidi, and Thomas Middleton’s Women Beware Women, directed by Amy Hodge. In an exciting and experimental production, roles for The Taming of the Shrew are to be played by different company members at different performances. The full company comprises: Raymond Anum: Raymond graduated from RADA last year and recently appeared in Youth Without God at The Coronet Theatre. Theatre credits while training include Love and Money, Romeo & Juliet, Philistines and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (RADA). Ryan Ellsworth: Ryan returns to the Globe, having performed in a Read Not Dead rehearsed reading of The Custom of the Country in 2017. Other recent theatre work includes The Wizard of Oz (Sheffield Crucible), Labyrinth (Hampstead Theatre), Henry V (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Theatr Clwyd). Television includes Angel of Darkness (Netflix) and Island at War (ITV). Film includes A Royal Winter and Bel Ami. Mattia Mariotti: Mattia’s recent theatre work includes La Mai Banale Banalità del Male (Teatro Instabile Genoa), The Temptation of St Anthony (Venue 45, Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and We Long Endure (Barron Theatre, St Andrews). Television includes Invisible Milk. Evelyn Miller: Evelyn returns to the Playhouse having appeared in Deep Night Dark Night earlier this year. She was also part of the Globe on Tour 2019 company, where she performed around the world in Pericles, Comedy of Errors and Twelfth Night. -

COLLECTION FINDING AID John McCallum, AO, CBE (1918–2010) Performing Arts Programs and Ephemera (PROMPT) Australian Collection Development In collecting materials relating to prominent Australians, programs and ephemera documenting all aspects of John McCallum stage acting career in Australia and overseas. Material on McCallum’s film and television screen career is not generally collected by the Library. The list is based on imperfect holdings and is updated as gaps in the Library’s holdings for this artist are filled. Content Printed materials in the PROMPT collection include programs and printed ephemera such as brochures, leaflets, tickets, etc. Theatre programs are taken as the prime documentary evidence of a performance by McCallum. In a few cases however, the only evidence of a performance is a piece of printed ephemera. In these cases the type of piece is identified, eg, brochure. The list is based on imperfect holdings and is updated as gaps in the Library’s holdings for this artist are filled. Unless otherwise stated, all entries are based on published programs in the PROMPT collection. 40 More Theatres Supported with Final Theatre Reopening Fund Grants
Theatres Trust supports 40 more theatres with final Theatre Reopening Fund grants The national public advisory body for theatre has awarded a further £155,265 of grants to help theatres with costs of Covid-secure reopening, including changes to the building to reduce congestion, improvements to ventilation systems and simple measures like installing hand sanitisers and screens. The theatres supported reflect the vital elements that make up the theatre ecosystem with awards made to significant producing theatres – Hampstead Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath – major receiving houses Capital Theatres and Worthing Theatres, venues specialising in dance (Northern Ballet), new writing (Traverse, New Diorama, Gate Theatre) and one of the country’s few puppet theatres, Upfront Theatre. Community theatres across the country have received grants, including young people-focused Blue Elephant Theatre and Hanger Farm Arts Centre, which works with people with learning disabilities. Theatres Trust has also given grants to help reopen every type of theatre building, including the country’s last remaining Regency theatre, Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, theatres in converted cinemas (People’s Theatre and Blackburn Empire) and former churches (Headgate Theatre and Lowestoft Players Theatre), pub theatres (Jack Studio Theatre), outdoor theatre (Rutland Open Air) and even a travelling theatre – Paines Plough. Theatres Trust Director Jon Morgan says, We are beginning to look forward to a time when theatres can reopen, welcome audiences back inside and continue to play a vital role in their communities. It has been a difficult year, but Theatres Trust is pleased to have been able to support so many theatres through this grant scheme as well as our free advice service and the #SaveOurTheatres Crowdfunding campaign. -

The collection consists of 3,370 postcards documenting theatres in the United States as well as some international theatres and a number of street scenes, amusement parks, ballrooms and other buildings. Background Information The Theatre Historical Society of America was founded in 1969 to promote the legacy of America’s historic theatres and ensure the documentation of the architectural, cultural and social history of those theatres. Materials were collected by members and kept in separate locations. Over time the collections were brought to one location and combined. From these initial collections the materials were organized and separated into several different collections. Records detailing histories of specific theatres were labeled the Theatre File, materials containing information on theatre mechanics, cinema chains, architects, THS members, vaudeville circuits, among other topics became the Subject Files, Photos that were used in the publication of Marquee were gathered into the Editors Collection, photographic slides, postcards, and negatives became the THS Slide Collection, THS Postcard Collection, and THS Negative Collection respectively. These collections came from THS members and donations made throughout the organization’s history. Scope and Contents Note The THS Postcard collection consists of 4.75 linear feet, numbering 3,370 postcards. The postcards are organized geographically by country, state, and grouped into folders by city. -
