Performing Arts Programs Guest Artist Benjamin Hosig Was featured in YM Magazine as one of America’s up and coming tap dancers. – Protégé of Clare O’Donnell, ** Ben is currently rehearsing in NYC with Savion Glover to perform with his dance troupe and will be continuing his education at Boston Conservatory. Ben has taken class and studied with many of the great tap dancers of the world; Gregory Hines , Savion Glover , Jimmy Slyde, Buster Brown, Dianne Walker, Brenda Bufalino, Sara Petronio, Leela Petronio, Tony Waag, and many more. He has done numerous musicals, including playing Tevye, and Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof, Tony in The Boyfriend, Curley in Oklahoma, Jesus in Godspell, King Charlemagne in Pippin, and an Urchin in Mark Twain the Musical. Ben has performed at “Swing 46” and “La Place” in New York City and opened for Jimmy Slyde and Dianne Walker at a Jacob’s Pillow Summit in Pittsfield, Mass. *Ben is a graduate of The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. He has taught several different places in the Greater Hartford area, The Hartford Conservatory, Dance Connecticut, The Watkinson School, The Westminster School, The Simsbury Music and Arts Camp, and Performing Arts Programs . Ben is Tap Captain of the tap group “OD’n Tap,” under the direction of Clare O’Donnell, and has performed with them at several venues. Most recently they performed at The New York City Tap Festival at the Duke Theater on 42 nd Street. They have also performed at the Inside/Out Theater at Jacob’s Pillow, Opsail 2000, and a “Meet the Masters” performance at the Charter Oak Community Cultural Center in Hartford CT, with some of tap dancing’s greats such as, Brenda Bufalino, Tony Waag, and The Israeli Hoofers. “OD’n Tap” has also been performed at Lincoln Center in New York City. Ben has also been a part of the dance company “Wette Paint” for 4 years, which is Jazz, Modern, and African based Dance Company under the direction of Avis Hatcher. Ben studied Jazz Dance in New York City with Frank Hatchett, and performed for him in Frank Hatchett’s “Salute to a Legacy,” in 1993 at Springfield Symphony Hall, in Springfield Mass. Ben has also studied voice and acting with Michael Lamb privately for 4 years, voice with Jackie Jarrett for one, as well as voice from Jack Waddell in New York City. .
