As Bob Lally you’ve no doubt heard by now the premiere edition of this Festival in San Antonio was a huge success with six 1357 School House Road choruses of young men from all around the country plus Santa Barbara, CA 93108 New Zealand taking part, and we look forward to (805) 969-9701 expanding it next January right here in the Far Western E: [email protected] District. With all the talent we have in our District we could probably field six choruses of our own. If you would like to be involved or think there might be a good I hate to hit you with a commercial right away, but group of young men in your area, check the Society web we’re just finishing the season of Divisional Conventions site for all the details, or contact staff member James and contests, and this year I attended all but one so I’m Estes in Nashville. It’s an inspiring thing to see, and the still pretty stoked up by the whole experience. There kids have a great experience all weekend mingling and was just a whole bunch of great singing both on and off singing with veteran barbershoppers. the stage, and everyone in sight seemed to be having a great time. If you couldn’t make your Division event this Finally, I hope you’re continuing to have a great time time, know that you were sorely missed. If you were singing and ringing chords with your friends, and that there, you know how enjoyable it was, and if you were your quartet or chorus is still providing a wonderful one of the audience members hooting for the great per - weekly experience for you and the others. If formances, I want to ask you a favor. Try to it’s not, is there something you can con - think of one barbershop buddy of yours who Motto: tribute to make it better and more reward - didn’t attend this year, and make it a point ing? If you need some help, I hope you’ll call to let him know what a great time you had. Twice as in We’re all having a terrific time and want you many people… what a blast! Harmony! to have the same. Okay, end of commercial. Right now, I’m looking forward Remember, we’re all in this together… to Nashville in July for what should be one of the most together in Harmony! exciting International Conventions in a long time. And, as usual, the Far Western District will be a prominent part of the action with three choruses (including a returning champion) competing, a current Chorus Champion performing their swan song, and (as of this writing) six quartets entered with a possible two more to be added! I know you’re as proud to be a member of this District as I am. Incidentally, the city of Nashville has welcomed the Barbershop Harmony Society to its new home with open arms, and the new headquarters building is stunning, so make your plans now to attend this historic event. I’ve been very excited to learn during the first few months of this year about several chapters with new, youth-oriented events in the wind.
