Rabemananjara3, Rainer Dolch4 Abstract. Malagasy poisonous frogs of genus Mantella are small, diurnal frogs with skin glands containing alkaloids and characterised by aposematic colouration. Due to their noxiousness and warning colouration, it is thought that they do not have many natural predators. Until now, only one successful and one aborted predation on Mantella frogs were reported. Herein, we account about two successful predations on M. aurantiaca in Torotorofotsy wetland, in central-eastern Madagascar. The first predation was observed by lizard Zoonosaurus sp. and the second predation by a snake probably belonging to Thamnosophis lateralis. Both predators did not seem to mind the taste of the M. aurantiaca and ingested it. Keywords. CHAPITRE 3 CONDITIONS SOCIO-ECONOMIQUES ET PROBLEMATIQUE DE LA ZONE D’ETUDE 3.1 Conditions socio-économiques actuelles 3.1.1 Système administratif, zone de démarcation et population La zone de l’étude, à savoir les 2 districts, 9 communes et 52 villages, comme indiqué dans le tableau suivant, est administrativement sous la juridiction de la région d’Alaotra-Mangoro. Géographiquemnt, la zone de l’étude comprend le bassin versant de la rivière Sahabe, lesbassin versant de la rivière Sahamilahy, les bassins de 4 petits et moyens cours d’eau, et la zone du PC 23. La délimitation administrative est illustrée à la Fig. 3.1. (Euphorbiaceae) from the eastern forest corridor of Madagascar. Candollea 71 : 327-356. In English, English and French abstracts. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.15553/c2016v712a17 Six species of Croton from the Moramanga District of the Alaotra-Mangoro Region of eastern Madagascar (Toamasina Prov.) are newly described here, five of which occur in the Ambatovy mining concession. A seventh new species is described from the Ankerana Forest in the Atsinanana Region, some 80 km to the northeast of the town of Moramanga, which is one of the offset areas intended to mitigate the deforestation incurred by the Ambatovy mining project. Of the new species, Croton ferricretus Kainul., B.W. van Ee & P.E. Berry is the one most closely associated with the ultramafic soils where nickel and cobalt is being extracted. Although it is locally common, it is only known from the mine concession. Croton enigmaticus P.E. Berry & B.W. van Ee is considerably less common on the mine concession but is also known from two other sites. Croton droguetioides Kainul. & Radcl.-Sm. is known from Ambatovy and three other areas in the Alaotra-Mangoro Region, and Croton radiatus P.E. Berry & Kainul. is known only from forests on the Ambatovy mining concession and from the area of Zahamena National Park. -

Molecular and morphological evidence place it in the tribe Spermacoceae s. lat. of Rubiaceae. The genus Astiella now holds 12 species in total that are all endemic to Madagascar.
