I have been provided with information to help answer your request by the Analytical Services Department of NHS Lothian. Question: In each of the past three years, how many patients suffering from dementia have been admitted to hospital for emergency treatment for their condition?. Please provide a breakdown by month and hospital. o After clarification - the number of dementia patients who have been admitted to hospital requiring immediate treatment for conditions resulting from/related to their dementia. ICD10 codes for Dementia included below F00. - Dementia in Alzeimers disease. F01. - Vascular Dementia. F02. - Dementia in other diseases. F03. - Unspecified Dementia. F05.1 - Delirium superimposed on dementia (unspecified). F10.7 - Alcoholic Dementia. Numbers relating to admissions/discharges within the last 2 months will be lower due to diagnosis coding not being complete. Dementia Admissions - February 2020 To protect the identity of the individuals involved any figure of 5 or less has not been shown in the table above. Since we do not have their consent to release this data from their records, the information is exempt under section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act i.e. to provide it would breach the General Data Protection Regulation (2016). I hope the information provided helps with your request. If you are unhappy with our response to your request, you do have the right to request us to review it. Your request should be made within 40 working days of receipt of this letter, and we will reply within 20 working days of receipt. If our decision is unchanged following a review and you remain dissatisfied with this, you then have the right to make a formal complaint to the Scottish Information Commissioner within 6 months of receipt of our review response.
