1 2 Economic Regional Profile TAMPA BAY REGION
Florida’s economic welfare and its ability to remain competitive in the globalized marketplace depend on the efficient transport of people and goods. To support the state’s future economic growth, continued and substantial investments in SIS facilities that support trade and tourism are vital.
With that goal in mind, this profile provides an overview of Florida’s eight (8) statutorily designated economic regions. Each individual regional profile provides an in-depth assessment of components that play an instrumental role in that particular region’s economic framework. The boundaries of the economic regions for that state differ from that of the seven (7) FDOT districts. The counties that comprise each economic region, however, share similar characteristics as it relates to population, race/ethnicity, employment, business/industry, and other demographics.
