ABOUT Igralom Is a Music Group from Niš, Serbia, Formed by Mladen ABOUT Igralom is a music group from Niš, Serbia, formed by Mladen Marjanović (guitar, back vocals), Dimitrije Simović (lead vocal, bass guitar) and Marko Tomović (drums, percussion), in June, 2015. From the very beginning, the group`s sound and groove were primarily oriented towards music of West Africa, namely - desert blues from Sahara. There is also an enormous influence of rock `n` roll and alternative music, especially Serbian new wave. After only three months of existing as a band, Igralom recorded their debut album Pogrešna Poznanstva (free transl.: “Wrong Kind Of Acquaintances”), in Vrbas (SRB), in the studio named Šamarčina. The album was released on 6th May 2016, for Rock Svirke Records from Serbia. This energetic trio has played over 60 live performances by now; they have played all across Serbia (Niš, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Kruševac, Užice, Pirot, Leskovac, Aleksinac...), and abroad as well (Sofia, Skopje, Zagreb, Rijeka, Sućuraj, Drvenik, Ljubljana, Murska Sobota, Galati, Milano...), and they have shared the stage with many great artists (Disciplin A Kitschme, Hugo Race & The Fatalists, King Ayisoba, Matushka, Repetitor, Artan Lili, Nikola Vranjković, etc.). Throughout 2017, Igralom was actively and engagedly working on a second album, with a lot of help from an artist and a producer Chris Eckman (Glitterbeat Records/Dirtmusic). Razpad Jugoslavije in vpliv rock 'n' rolla v protivojnih akcijah v Srbiji v devetdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja Diplomsko delo obravnava tematiko razpada Jugoslavije in vpliv rocka v protivojnih akcijah v Srbiji. Rock ni preprečil tragičnega konca SFRJ, to niti ni bil namen, brez dvoma pa izpeljani glasbeni projekti predstavljajo velik uspeh in iskro upanja vsem narodom nekdanje skupne države.

279487115 АКТО_4 FESTIVAL FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS TOPIC_GENERATIONS AKTO_4 Festival for Contemporary arts will be held from 12.08 - 16.08.09 in Bitola, Republic of Macedonia. Akto is a regional festival for contemporary art which includes visual arts, performing arts, music and theory of culture. The main objective of Akto Festival is to open the cultural frameworks of a modern society through “recomposing” and redifning them in a new context. The programme of the festival is based on two concepts. The frst concept is space/location_ Locations have been transformed in terms of their previous meanings. The basic idea of the festival is art pieces to come out of the standard location (galleries, museums, theatres) used for presenting art, and their setting up in new location. Re-moving of the pieces into new location transforms the piece itself (according to the parameter space). The second concept is the topic of the festival_ The topic of Akto_4 festival is Generations. The artistic pieces (according to the parameter Generations) are going to be presented in two categories: artistic pieces that have generations as a basic starting point and pieces that are transformation of an already fnished artistic forms (also according to the parameter Generations). The “new” piece is transformed from its basic form. It has new statics and dynamics. The topic Generations deals with the issue of generations and initiates several questions: Are the ties between today’s young generations with the generation of their parents broken? Are today’s young generations

  • Transnational Habitus: Mariem Hassan As the Transcultural Representation of the Relationship Between Saharaui Music and Nubenegra Records
Transnational Habitus: Mariem Hassan as the transcultural representation of the relationship between Saharaui music and Nubenegra records Luis Gimenez Amoros Submitted in partial fullfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Rhodes University PhD (thesis) Department of Music and Musicology Supervisor: Dr Lee Watkins I Abstract This thesis expands on primary field research conducted for my MMus degree. Undertaken in the Saharaui refugee camps of southern Algeria (2004-2005) that research - based on ethnographic data and the analysis of Saharaui music, known as Haul 1- focussed on the musical system, the social context of musical performance and the music culture in Saharaui refugee camps. This doctoral research examines Saharaui Haul music as practised in Spain and is particularly focussed on its entry, since 1998, into the global market by way of the World Music label, Nubenegra records. The encounter between Saharaui musicians and Nubenegra records has created a new type of Saharaui Haul which is different to that played in the refugee camps. This phenomenon has emerged as a result of western music producers compelling Saharaui musicians to introduce musical changes so that both parties may be considered as musical agents occupying different positions on a continuum of tradition and change. Nubenegra undertook the commodification of Saharaui music and disseminated it from the camps to the rest of the world. A musical and social analysis of the relationship between Nubenegra and Saharaui musicians living in Spain will form the basis of the research in this thesis. In particular, Mariem Hassan is an example of a musician who had her music disseminated through the relationship with Nubenegra and she is promoted as the music ambassador of the Western Sahara.

Pribežališče Verjetno v resnici nihče ne ve, od kod so pribežali njegovi predniki. In kdaj.

5 Video Clips from Serbia: Beyond the Law | norient.com 2 Oct 2021 05:39:04 5 Video Clips from Serbia: Beyond the Law PLAYLIST by Svetlana Maraš What we have been trained for many years to approve as acceptable in our global video culture, is violence. Films, games, music videos too. What’s been portrayed most often is the violence that goes hand in hand with criminal behavior and serves as a way of acquiring immense wealth and respected status in a society. This could be seen as a default script of any music video or film. While we can trace the influence and inspiration in American hip-hop culture to many of the music videos in Serbia, since the 1990s onwards, they are becoming very popular nowadays in the trap music scene that is mostly aimed at younger audiences. Relativization of violence and crime go deep into the roots of urban culture in this geographic area, and therefore it was interesting to observe how throughout different music genres and periods, this subject has been treated by the artists. To be on the other side of the law comes as empowerment to some and as a revolt to others. Artist: Sunshine Track: Kokane (Serbia, 1997) Label: Metropolis Records Belgrade’s band Sunshine released this great hit in 1997. The song features their original and recognizable style, a mix of hip hop and hard rock. The title itself has a small twist to avoid literal and quite obvious allusion to the subject of the song – cocaine. Lyrics and small intervention in the music video itself, create the usual, well-known script of a powerful narco-boss who enjoys common material pleasures – fancy cars, money, houses around the world and who is untouchable to the authorities and beyond the law.

Proposing a third term that operates beyond the dichotomy of high culture and mass culture and yet offers a fresh approach to both, these essays address a multitude of different topics that can all be classified as unpopular culture. From David Foster Wallace and Ernest Hemingway to Zane Grey, from Christian rock and country to clack cetal, from Steven Seagal to Genesis (Breyer) P-Orridge, from K-pop to The Real Housewives, from natural disasters to 9/11, from thesis hatements to professional sports, these essays find the unpopular across media and genres, and they analyze the politics and the aesthetics of an unpopular culture (and the unpopular in culture) that has not been duly recognized as such by the theories and methods of cultural studies.
