I am currently in Wishaw Hospital having delivered my baby at 23 weeks and 2 days. As you can imagine he has a long, uncertain road ahead, but something strange happened today ..... or maybe not .... I had seen a crocheted blanket I wanted to make when I found out I was pregnant. I found the pattern but decided it was a bit too advanced for my beginner’s skills. Today at the reception at Neo Natal, there was a pile of blankets, donated by the Wednesday Group at your church, for the premature babies, saying to please help yourself. Right there on top ....... the blanket I wanted to make, exact pattern and colour! The verse pinned to the blanket read: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13 1st A Tannochside Guides We’re well in to our new programme. Badges have been awarded for the first Skills Builders - Communicate, First Aid and Innovate. We also work on Unit Meeting Activities, recently completing ‘Against the law’ and ‘The two-match challenge’. This year Emily McMillan has completed her Baden- Powell award. (She will be the last guide to achieve this as under the new programme the highest badge will be the Gold award.) She has organised an international evening, completed her Agility badge, challenged herself to improve at hockey and told the Guides all about Fair Trade. Congratulations to Emily! We had planned to camp at Fordell Firs, but the dates didn’t suit. So, this year the two Guide units are off to Loch Lomond where the challenge for Saturday afternoon will be ‘I’m a Celebrity, get me out of here’. We enjoy cooking on a wood fire, singing songs, toasting marshmallows and having fun! We’re delighted that the Guides from Burnhead Church will be joining us.

  • Tannochside Park, Uddingston Sale of Land to Scottish Enterprise
234 NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL REPORT HOUSING & PROPERTY SERVICES COMMITTEE DATE: 21 November I2000 1 FROM: . I DIRECTOR OF HOUSING & PROPERTY SERVICES 1 REF: W/HM SUBJECT: TANNOCHSIDE PARK, UDDINGSTON SALE OF LAND TO SCOTTISH ENTERPRISE 1. PURPOSE OF REPORT This report concerns a proposal to sell small areas of land within Tannochside Park, Uddingston to Scottish Enterprise. 2. BACKGROUND Scottish Enterprise & North Lanarkshire Council’s predecessors were the original owners of Tannochside Park. The respective titles covered large areas of ground with irregular boundaries and few, if any, physical features to identify the boundaries. Through partnership working, civil engineering works were undertaken to service the site suitable for industrial / business development. The sites created have subsequently been sold on to a diverse range of business users. Scottish Enterprise disponed sites to Oakwood Food Limited and Orange Telecommunications. At the time of sale, which was several years ago now, Scottish Enterprise genuinely felt that they were selling land that was exclusively in their ownership. The view of both original landowners was that the feu boundary between the Scottish Enterprise and Motherwell District Council ownership’s was through an area designated common landscaping separating developable plots. Through the land registration process, it has however emerged that there are discrepancies over the supposed common boundary between the Scottish Enterprise & North Lanarkshire Council titles. As a consequence, small areas of land now occupied by Oakwood Foods and Orange Telecommunications are not shown on their respective Land Certificates despite their inclusion in the sale missives. The above areas are highlighted on the accompanying plan. In the case of Oakwood Foods Limited, the area in question covers part of the access into the manufacturing facility as well as part of the yard area.

Through the Community Solutions Strategy, “Softening the Lines”, - the CVS’s contribution is co-ordinated, robustly monitored and works to the regional logic model based on a series of programme outcomes. The Community Solutions work is based on co-production (which includes co- commissioning at a community level); giving people choice and control and building compassionate communities through connections and capacity building of local supports. Using eleven project hosts to guide best practice (e.g. in physical activity; healthy eating; anticipatory planning; transport etc) and 6 locality host organisations to ensure a truly community led approach, a devolved budget of £1.14 million from HSCNL together with a number of additional funds totaling £1,390,000 is directly invested in organisations and community groups (budget for 19/20 attached as Appendix 1) with countless others receiving support from other means such as capacity building, training and organizational and volunteer support. Investment ranges from micro-investment (£300-£5000) and matched funds, to strategic investment in projects of up to £75,000.

Purpose of Report I refer to the minutes of the Planning and Development Committee of 27 November, when the above planning application was continued to a site visit and hearing. The following information should be noted by the Committee at their special meeting on 20 December, 0 1996. 2. B ac kcl round Since my original report was prepared, I have received a further letter from Lanarkshire Development Agency, seeking to clarify their position in relation to this application. In their letter, the LDA note that they do not wish to object to the planning application, but had been making reference to the necessary environmental improvements to Aitkenhead Bing; they now understand that this has been taken into account. 3. In principle the LDA support the application since they believe that the availability of quality residential development is an important factor in assisting the efforts to attract companies into the area, and were of the opinion that the proposed development at Newlands Farm would complement and help reinforce the efforts of the economic development policies of the area.
