Guildwood Junior Public School

Thank you Guildwood! On October 13, 2018, Guildwood Junior Public School hosted its first Pumpkin Fest! The event featured inflatable play areas, a variety of games, a petting zoo, a pick-it-yourself pumpkin patch, free face painting, and so much more. It was so wonderful to see so many students, parents, neighbours and community members come out to support the festival, and show their support for Guildwood Junior Public School. Based on the tremendous success of the festival, enough money was raised to purchase a permanent sign for the school. The sign will be used to inform students, parents, and the community of all the events that the school has planned. The sign was installed this past December and the first message said it all, “Thanks Guildwood Community”. Giving back In December, Guildwood JPS participated in a hot chocolate fundraiser in support of The Hospital for Sick Children. Thank you to Mr. Gulamhusein for his hard work and to Starbucks for their donation of the cups in support of this initiative. Students raised $315 for the hospital. Guildwood JPS also ran a successful food and sock drive to help out local shelters over the holidays. Got dead batteries?? on our environment. appy New Year from Poplar Road P.S.! We have had an incredible Hfirst term at school. This past fall our themes have been about Leadership and Teamwork and we are so impressed with our student leaders and thankful to the entire Guildwood Community for their support. In October, our Student Leadership Club along with our Eco Club launched two initiatives: a large food drive and a textile drive. With the support of not only our school community but Guildwood at large, we successfully collected a TON of textiles that will now be recycled rather than finding their way into a landfill. Taking care of our planet is something that all Poplar Road students discuss on a regular basis and actively strive to do in both large and small ways each and every day. Student Leadership continued through November as students participated in Students demonstrating their Rope Jumping Skills at our November Assembly a campaign for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and then for December, Extra-curricular activities this fall Mindfulness with an expert in the field students and families collected gifts for were varied and reached out to a coming to the school to work with our annual Angel Tree.
