We require that you submit one of the following English proficiency test results dated within the last two years. If an official result is not listed below, you are required to upload a scan of your score report in the Upload Supporting Documents section. Entering the information below is optional. * TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) To have your results sent directly to The American University of Paris, use our institutional code 0866. * TOEIC (Test of English of International Communications) To have your results sent directly to The American University of Paris, use our institutional code 0866. * IELTS (International English Language Testing System)—Academic Option * Cambridge English - First, Advanced, or Proficiency level The English language test requirement is waived if you are applying from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, or the United States where you have studied in an all-English curriculum for at least two years. You may request a waiver if you have studied for at least four years in an all- English curriculum in any other country. The waiver request will be reviewed when all other application requirements have been submitted. We reserve the right to request English test results from any applicant. Optional tests ACT and SAT scores are fully optional and are used to pre-place admitted students into the correct level of English and Mathematics classes, if needed. They may also strengthen your application for admission. Our SAT institutional code is 0866 and our ACT institutional code is 5295. * You will not take the SAT or ACT? That's okay. Transcripts

To successfully complete your application, we require that you submit academic transcripts for the last three years of your school career.

There are two options for you to submit your transcripts:

1) Unofficial Transcripts

Should you seek a rapid admissions decision, submit unofficial transcripts by uploading them in the "Supporting Documents" section of this application. Your application will be evaluated based on these copies.

Please make sure that the unofficial transcripts are in PDF format and are scanned at a legible quality.

If you are admitted to AUP, you will be required to submit official final transcripts as soon as they become available. Complete official transcripts, including all coursework completed before coming to AUP, must be received before you begin courses.

2) Official Transcripts

1. English Proficiency Test

Students who have not studied in an English language institution for the past 4 years are required to submit a proficiency test result taken within the last two years. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request scores from any applicant. Find out more.

2. Extracurricular Activities & Work Experience

Please list your principal extracurricular, community, volunteer and family activities. Include any scholastic or community honors you have earned and any part-time or full-time jobs you have had.

3. Essay

There are two required essays. Please include both in the same file. The file should be uploaded in PDF format.

General essay topics (choose one):

1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. 2. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? 3. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome? 4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. 5. Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.

Second, answer the question specifically about AUP in under 300 words.

AUP specific essay question: "What attracts you the most about coming to The American University of Paris and how do you believe the experience of living and studying in Paris will change you?"
