EVENT WORD – When You Feel Like You are Going Backwards We all go through times when we feel like we're going backward. Things were going well, we knew we had God's favor, but then things turned. We lost a major client, our child didn't get the scholarship, or a friend walked away. We wonder, "What did we do wrong?" But just because you face difficulties that you don't understand doesn't mean you're not in God's will. God is ordering our steps, and sometimes He will order a cutback. Just as there are seasons of growth, there are seasons of pruning. Without the pruning we won't become all we were created to be. Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit" (John 15:1–2). That makes sense. When we have things in our life that are not productive—a friend who is pulling us down or a job that's leading nowhere—He'll cut those things away so we can put our energy into things that move us forward. But Jesus added, "Every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so it will be even more fruitful." The only way to get from "fruit" to "more fruit" is to be cutback. That means there are times when you're doing the right thing and the wrong thing happens. Instead of getting discouraged, recognize that it's a pruning season. Without that cutback you won't see new growth. He wouldn't let you lose your job if He wasn't going to give you something better. He may have pruned a friend out of your life, but there's a better friend coming. You may be satisfied to stay where you are, but God is not satisfied. He has new levels, new opportunities, new relationships in store for you. Prayer for this Event: Father thank you for the pruning, the cutback and the downsize. We trust your plan and we trust you Dynasty Heat – “Straight Fire” Tour Stop #3: Spirit of Hope, Charlotte, NC Page 5 of 11 8. EVENT SCHEDULE Athletes will report to the Event Venue in Charlotte. EVENT RULES AND REMINDERS A. ATHLETE BEHAVIORS Our organization takes GREAT pride in the way our athletes look – especially in public. Parents and athletes must understand that people will form perspectives about who we are as a program by the way we look and the way we carry ourselves in public. Literally, we will be judged from the moment we arrive to the competition venue. Presentation is EVERYTHING! It is imperative that everyone remembers that you are NOT representing your personal style – you are an official ambassador of Crimson HEAT All Stars, Inc. and as such, you must follow the gym’s appearance protocols. Please see below for details: • Athletes’ hair should already be styled in the designated Hairstyle. • The hairstyle for the season is a single-high ponytail with spiraled curls AND Red Bow (unless otherwise specified by the Athletes Coaching Team). • BRAIDS, FLAT TWISTS, PARTS and/or COLORED HAIR (e.g. blue, green, purple, etc.) are strictly prohibited. • Athletes should never wear rollers, scarfs, or pin curls in their hair when they arrive to the gym or performance venue for report time. • Athletes’ uniforms should be neatly tucked inside of their WARMUP; jackets should be zipped, and CHEER SHOES should be on their FEET! • The uniform should NOT be worn in parts (e.g. Warm-up jacket with Uniform but no pants, Warm-up pants but no jacket). • Athletes MUST put on their warm-ups immediately after their performance! • Athletes should remain FULLY dressed and in uniform for the entire duration of the event. • Athletes should report to awards ceremonies in full dress warm-ups (bows and make-up should be fully applied). All electronic devices (including cell phones) are prohibited from awards ceremonies. • All jewelry (including body jewelry) should be REMOVED prior to arriving to the gym or designated report location/venue. • Athletes are NEVER allowed to walk in the performance venue alone AND they should NEVER walk-around the venue in their uniform (outside of the designated cover-up). They should ALWAYS put on their Cover Up, immediately after their performances and awards ceremony. These standards must be maintained even when the cheerleaders are released to their parents. Dynasty Heat – “Straight Fire” Tour Stop #3: Spirit of Hope, Charlotte, NC Page 7 of 11 B. PARENT BEHAVIORS HEAT Parents should be wearing their Black Crimson Heat T-shirt or Hoodie. This is extremely important! Our kids need to be able to easily identify our FANS in the stands. This is a critical part of our safety plan! The HEAT family members should be easily identifiable to our athletes in cases of emergency. HEAT Parents are eXpected to sit in the designated FAN Viewing AREA for our team’s performances. Parents are requested to move quickly to get into the section and out of the section after our teams are finished. Please be respectful of other teams when moving in and out of the section – always follow the instructions of the event staff when moving. Parents are requested to quickly get seated and be mindful of your iPads and video cameras – we don’t want to obstruct the view of the judges! During awards ceremonies – PLEASE WAIT until you hear the HEAT name called to celebrate and regardless of our placement, we always celebrate our children.

ONE NIGHT @ THE CALL CENTER —CHETAN BHAGAT [Typeset by: Arun K Gupta] This is someway my story. A great fun, inspirational One! Before you begin this book, I have a small request. Right here, note down three things. Write down something that i) you fear, ii) makes you angry and iii) you don’t like about yourself. Be honest, and write something that is meaningful to you. Do not think too much about why I am asking you to do this. Just do it. One thing I fear: __________________________________ One thing that makes me angry: __________________________________ One thing I do not like about myself: __________________________________ Okay, now forget about this exercise and enjoy the story. Have you done it? If not, please do. It will enrich your experience of reading this book. If yes, thanks Sorry for doubting you. Please forget about the exercise, my doubting you and enjoy the story. PROLOGUE _____________ The night train ride from Kanpur to Delhi was the most memorable journey of my life. For one, it gave me my second book. And two, it is not every day you sit in an empty compartment and a young, pretty girl walks in. Yes, you see it in the movies, you hear about it from friend’s friend but it never happens to you. When I was younger, I used to look at the reservation chart stuck outside my train bogie to check out all the female passengers near my seat (F-17 to F-25)is what I’d look for most). Yet, it never happened.

FUN IN THE OUTDOORS Perfectly Effortless Programs Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Emerson Resource Center 2300 Ball Drive St. Louis, MO 63146 314.592.2360 Introduction Girl Scout programs are built on the concept of progression – acquiring the skills needed to progress to more difficult or highly-skilled activities. Learning skills that will be helpful in the outdoors can start during any troop meeting and along with a progressive series of trips, beginning with a day outing, can provide the group with the skills to travel almost anywhere. Try looking at It’s Your Planet-Love It! Journey series or check out The Girl Guide to Girl Scouting legacy badges (naturalist) or the outdoor badges- hiker, camper, trailblazer or adventurer. A Day Outing Is: • Cooking, hiking and playing outdoor games • Learning about nature – birds, the trees and the sky • Discovering the beauty of the outdoors • Becoming comfortable in the natural environment • Practicing skills for a first time before an overnight camping trip • Taking an all-day hike to prepare for a backpack trip • Practicing canoe skills for a canoe camping trip • Learning to fish • Finding your way with a compass or geo-caching with a GPS unit • Introducing girls and adults to Council camp facilities • Exploring forests and parks nearby Before you do anything in the outdoors, make sure you are ready: A day outing offers many opportunities for girls to complete badges. Putting the skills they have learned at in-town meetings into practical use is part of the day outing experience. Is there a badge or patch they could work on that would include these activities? Look in The Girl Guide to Girl Scouting for badge requirements.
