Had the honor of displaying it in Bayview’s Dealership during our First Annual Bayview Car Show, November 2019. Hi Everyone, Can’t believe it’s October already and we as a club have been dormant the entire year due to the pandemic. So many car events, car shows, and any other organizational events for that matter, have been cancelled, obviously, due to Covid. It was very disap pointing when Bayview Cadillac and our Club had to cancel our big Annual Car Show in November. This next year has got to be better! I certainly hope everyone is still doing well, have not heard otherwise, and that’s a good thing! So let’s keep it up, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and 2021 can be a great year for recovery. In so doing, we can promote our club with shirts and masks, as you can see in my picture here! Great accessories can be found and purchased at the site of gmc lubapparel.com Since this year has been very quiet, I’ve asked our Board of Directors to maintain their present positions for the new year. You’ll find each of our names listed in this newsletter. Our main concern right now is for membership renewal and to promote our club for new members. We can all do our part in encouraging new members to join. Please see our Membership Form enclosed. Please copy, fill out, and mail in A.S.A.P. so we are ready to move forward and enjoy 2021 as a Club. Also take a look at the ‘Renewal Sale’ info from the National Club. It is required to be a member nationally as well as our local club. There are 3 great incentives there for renewing your national membership, along with new first time introductory members. I think the best perk is receiving the monthly publication ‘The Self Starter’, an award winning publication, and deservingly so! Jerry Feldman’s gorgeous ’65 Eldo convertible Our local dues help to offset costs of club activities, Banquet costs, and pay for our Bayview Cadillac Annual Car Show trophies, DJ, door prizes, etc. Please renew your local and national memberships today! As I said in our first newsletter, we appreciate all of you and look forward to getting together again very soon! In the meantime, stay patient, stay safe, stay healthy, and help promote our Club for the new year! Cadillac Crazy, Lenny 2021 CLC SFR Membership Renewal Form Little Bit of HISTORY Taken from: GM Authority By: Jonathan Lopez July 29, 2020 Cadillac was founded in 1902 in Detroit, Michigan. The automaker was formed from the remains of the Henry Ford Company following Henry Ford’s departure. In response to a dispute with investors, Ford left the company in March 1902, eventually launching GM’s crosstown rival, Ford Motor Company. William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen, Ford’s former financial backers, contacted engineer Henry Leland to appraise the company plant and its associated equipment. However, Leland ended up convincing Murphy and Bowen to continue auto manufacturing using Leland’s single-cylinder engine, and the Cadillac Automobile Company was born. The company name takes after Antoine Laumet de la Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, a French explorer considered the “founder of Detroit”. The famed Cadillac crest is designed after the explorer’s coat of arms. The first Cadillac models combined a Ford frame with a 10- horsepower single-cylinder engine with the first example rolling out of the factory in October of 1902, debuting at the New York Auto Show in 1903. Offered as a more reliable alternative to rival products, Cadillac ended up selling 2500 units in the first year of production. Cadillac quickly established itself as one of the premier luxury car makers in the U.S. In 1909, GM purchased Cadillac, adding the brand to the top of its vehicle hierarchy, which at the time included Buick, Oldsmobile, Oakland, and a few years later, Chevrolet. Over the years, Cadillac continued to establish itself as a technological leader, becoming the first auto manufacturer to offer an advanced electrical system for ignition, lighting, and starting. Cadillac was also known for developing the first automotive V8 engine for mass production. Now you know a little more about “The Standard of the World”. .
