French knot - Hold the needle in your right hand. With your left hand, wrap the thread around the needle 1-3 times, de- pending on the size of knot you want. You need to have 4 pieces total for stripes (see diagram). 2. Trace one cuff, mitten front and backing wool (tracing around entire mitten and cuff in one piece) onto dull side of freezer paper. Iron to the wool and cut out on the lines. Remove paper from all pieces. 3. Fuse the shapes to the front of mitten positioning as shown in the picture. Stitch around using blanket or whip stitch. 4. Add embroidery stitches. Use cover pic for placement. Add long straight stitches for cuff decoration. 5. Position and pin mitten to the black backing and blanket stitch around except for the top edge. 6. Position and pin cuff in place, slightly overlapping the top of the mitten.
