(AETC). As a broadcast service, PBA is comprised of WABE90.1FM, WPBA-TV30 and the digital service Atlanta PlanIt. For more information on the broadcast service, programming and opportunities, please visit www.wabe.org JOB TITLE: Chief Content Officer (CCO) SUMMARY: PBA seeks an exceptional leader who is skilled with people and an expert in developing and implementing an effective content strategy. The CCO’s focus will be content creation, content delivery, and content exposure. PBA seeks a creative and strategic leader, able to inspire others to develop and deliver on plans to reach as many people as possible to fulfill PBA’s mission and vision. STRATEGY: The Chief Content Officer will have the unique opportunity to define vision for PBA's content creation and distribution platforms. Develop and implement multi-platform content strategy that builds the use of content across platforms and enhances the user / audience experience. Provide editorial leadership and direction, ensuring that content is on-brand, diverse, has integrity and inclusive of all audiences. Content must be consistent in quality and optimized for user experience across platforms (TV, Radio, Podcast & Digital). The CCO will be a key partner in strengthening the organization's significance and long-term sustainability. Responsible for developing a robust pipeline of content and scheduling strategy to expand market reach. Grows the media enterprise (e.g. content offerings, audience consumption and loyalty and impact) in alignment with PBA’s Strategic Plan. Work with department and division leadership to build a collaborative environment, to create a broader understanding of organizational needs and to better support other departments such as Marketing, Community Engagement, Individual Giving, Underwriting and Education with their production and content needs. Understands and works in an effort to identify and create local content that supports fundraising opportunities. LEADERSHIP: Manages and directs PBA’s content production divisions, including Television, Radio, Podcast and Digital production and programming activities. Functions as a collaborative partner within the Senior Management team to establish strategic direction and ensure that the division is supporting the organizational goals and mission. Stay ahead of trends in content-making, technology and content distribution while creating growth and impact strategies based on analysis (ratings, research, trends, etc.). Atlanta’s NPR and PBS Stations PUBLIC BROADCASTING ATLANTA Develop, manage and staff accordingly to meet audience needs across all platforms. Identify staff skills that need to be developed or acquired in order to execute on content strategies. Develop standards and procedures that evaluate and hold accountable high-quality content-making and content delivery talent. Be able to define, instruct and model excellence in both qualitative and quantitative terms. OPERATIONS: CCO will utilize data and analytic tools to evolve content offerings and delivery mechanisms to maximize user experience and engagement. Must be capable of making difficult decisions and/or changes with transparency and input. Responsible for budget, contracts, project development, coordination with community and corporate entities related to content, broadcast and production departments; manages relationships with national and local affiliates (PBS, NPR, NETA, etc.) and liaisons with fundraising arms of PBA. Provide operational support, creative assistance and active participation to grow revenue including grant activities and high-level solicitation. Provides input (direct and/or delegated) for on-air fundraising. Assist in oversight for rules compliance with FCC, CPB, etc. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required (Master’s degree preferred). • 10+ years of successful and applicable work experience, with at least 8 years of management/ leadership experience in media industry (ideally in top 20 media markets). • Broad background experience/exposure within broadcast news, cultural arts and/or entertainment with applicable production experience. • Demonstrated understanding in broadcast programming principles, audience research and content development strategies.
