I am a musician, producer, mix engineer, instructor and clinician, with extensive professional experience as a keyboardist with , , , , , the , , and a number of other artists, producing and mixing several Grammy- winning CDs for these artists as well. I have also earned a pair of Emmy nominations for my TV scoring and am well known in the music industry for my expertise as a computer-based music producer. Over the last 20 years I have been an instructor in a wide variety of settings, including private instruction from Norway to Japan, workshops and clinics around the world, and master classes at the Berklee College of Music. Over the last 2 years I have developed and produced an extensive series of online video instruction (currently more than 70 lessons) covering improvisation, production, arranging, mixing and more. In the classroom, I take great pleasure in sharing what I’ve learned, inspiring energy, optimism and confidence, and I consider my ability to distill the intangibles of music into teachable principles to be one of my greatest strengths as an instructor. Released a live CD from our European tour, Dec. 2013, which I also mixed, and composed most of the material. • HERBIE HANCOCK, and CARLOS SANTANA: Played keyboards and arranged for The Concert for Peace at the Hollywood Bowl, August 2012 • THE BRECKER BROTHERS REUNION BAND - played keyboards & served as Musical Director, including a tour of Europe and several week-long engagements at New York’s Blue Note. • DAVID SANBORN: Have played keyboards in this band frequently since 1999 • CHRIS MINH DOKY & THE NOMADS: 2 to 4 tours per year with this band, featuring Dave Weckl ! and Dean Brown. Released a live CD, The Board Tapes in 2013! COMPOSER - VARIOUS — 1994-2013 • ALL MY CHILDREN: Nominated for a 2014 Emmy award for my work on this show • THE GETDOWN: Scored this feature film, in the rotation on Showtime for the past 3 years • AS THE WORLD TURNS: 1998-2011. Composed nearly 200 cues for this show, nominated for a 2006 Emmy award • CD PROJECTS: Have written for CDs by artists such as , Drew Zingg, Till Brönner, Third Rail and others • ASCAP’S FILM AND TV SCORING WORKSHOP: 2007 Harold Arlen Award winner, out of 300 applicants • MUSIC LIBRARIES: Have written 3 CDs worth of library music cues, which have been used on ! everything from German game show themes to Norwegian nature documentaries. INSTRUCTOR, CLINICIAN - WORLDWIDE — 1993-PRESENT • WORKSHOPS & CLINICS: Around the world at various institutions for the past 20 years. Workshops in the last 6 months include private clinics on improvisation, computer-based production and band workshops at Mannheim University, the Institut für Musik Ösnabruck, and the PopAkademie in Mannheim, Germany • MUSICPATH.NET: Subscription-based series of more than 70 video lessons I have created and produced on improvisation, orchestration, production, mixing and the music business. • YAMAHA ARTIST CLINICS: On synthesizer technique and improvisation, in Japan, 1990s • MASTER CLASS ON PRODUCTION, BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC: 1998; Spent a day producing a track from scratch in Berklee’s studio for an advanced music production class. • PRIVATE LESSONS: Many students from around the world, usually during my travels; I have developed a very condensed, intensive approach to teaching what I call the “physics principles” of ! improvised music. Jeff Richman’s 2014 release Big Wheel ARRANGER — 1993-PRESENT • HERBIE HANCOCK & WAYNE SHORTER: Arranged 2 songs for full orchestra, one of which, Sonrisa, premiered with Herbie and several orchestras in November 2012 • HERBIE HANCOCK & LANG LANG: Arranged 2 versions of songs from West Side Story, America and Somewhere for a potential duo CD • DREW ZINGG: Arranged 2 pieces for / guitarist’s debut CD Drew Zingg, including an arrangement of I’m Easy for singer Michael McDonald • VARIOUS CD PROJECTS: I have always functioned as the arranger on projects I produce and play on, everything from working out the orchestration to the intros, endings, solo sections, ! reharmonizations, etc. MIX & MASTERING ENGINEER — 1993-PRESENT • MIX ENGINEER: I have mixed nearly 60 CDs, hundreds of cuts, including a Grammy winner (Randy Brecker’s “34th and Lex”, 2003) and a 4x Grammy nominee (Randy’s 2011 big band CD “The Jazz Ballad Songbook”). I have also mixed some 400 cues for film and TV shows ranging from “Science Times” to “As the World Turns”. • MASTERING ENGINEER: I have mastered some 40 CDs, including 2011 Grammy nominee “The ! Jazz Ballad Songbook” by Randy Brecker Education Berklee College of Music - 1980-1982. 2-Year Performance Certificate (Berklee’s rough equivalent to an Associate’s degree)
