We believe and teach the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. We stress the importance of observing all of God’s commandments. The fourth commandment reads, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work (Exodus 20:8-11) …” This commandment is just as important as the other nine commandments. “Thou shalt not kill” and “Thou shalt not steal” are the sixth and eighth commandments respectively and just as we believe in observing them, so we believe in observing the fourth commandment regarding The Sabbath (7th Day). The seventh day (Sabbath) is Saturday. As stated above, we cannot go to work on this day. Furthermore, the Bible commands us to have A Holy Convocation (Church Service) and refrain from all commerce on the Seventh day (Saturday). Again, this is a very important part of our faith. We, therefore, humbly ask, that you allow the above employee/student to miss work/school on Saturday, without prejudice. Lastly, the Bible speaks of seven annual Sabbaths, which we also observe (Ex: Passover, Pentecost, Atonement). The dates of these Holy Days vary from year to year according to the lunar calendar. Our members are given a list of these days well in advance and accordingly we ask you to allow them to miss work/school on these very special religious observances. Your consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Elijah Israel Elijah Israel Pastor/Teacher Note: This year the feasts will be observed on: Passover- 3/26/21; Unleavened Bread – 3/28/21 & 4/3/21; Feast of Pentecost – 5/23/21; Trumpets - 9/8/21; Atonement - 9/17/21; Feast of Tabernacles - 9/22/21 & 9/29/21. .
