Introduction

1. 20 Forthlin Road is a 1940s terraced house on a level residential road. There is a single gate leading onto a paved single width pathway. 2. Access is by pre-booked minibus tour only and visitors arriving at the house will not be allowed access unless part of one of these tours. 3. There is good mobile phone signal at the property. 4. Tour of the house is by guided tour with a trained guide. 5. Assistance Dogs are welcome throughout the property. 6. Light levels are kept low in the house to protect the collection from irreversible light damage. 7. Visitors will be requested to hand over bags and cameras to be storedin order to protect the collection. No suitcases or large bags are allowed. 8. Due to the ongoing pandemic, tour groups are currently limited to 8. Please call +44 (0) 151 427 7231 in advance of booking if you have special access needs i.e. require a wheelchair, space for a carer or a portable hearing induction loop. 9. Wheelchair users are transported via wheelchair-accessible taxi. Please request this service by calling +44 (0) 151 427 723. 10. The tour lasts for 1 hour and covers all floors of the property. Due to the historic nature of the property, the ground floor only is wheelchair accessible. Arrival & Parking Facilities

1. One tour each day starts from Liverpool South Parkway station (National Rail Enquiries - Station facilities for Liverpool South Parkway) which has several rail connections, bus routes and car parking. 2. Tours starting at Speke Hall have free parking with 12 allocated mobility parking spaces in the main car 0.9km from Visitor Reception. The car park at Speke Hall is made of tarmac with further rows having a gravel surface. 3. The minibus will drop off passengers in front of the gate to ’ properties.

Visitor Reception

1. Visitors are met at Liverpool South Parkway and Speke Hall by the minbus driver who will offer sanitiser to visitors using the minibus. Visitors are informed when booking to meet at bus stand 2 at Liverpool South Parkway and at the main carpark/visitor reception building at Speke Hall. 2. Due to safety regulations tours cannot run with a single passenger. Should this occur once a booking has occurred we will contact the passenger to offer them one of two alternatives; transfer onto a different tour (that day or a date in the future) or a full refund.

WCs

1. There is an adapted toilet available in the garden to the rear of Forthlin Road with a right hand transfer. 2. At Speke Hall, there are 2 accessible toilets both with a right hand transfer located at Home Farm (near Visitor Reception). The toilet block has limited/no natural light and is lit using halogen lights. The automatic hand dryers are switched off and paper towels are available to prevent the spread of Covid 19. 3. Liverpool South Parkway station has accessible toilets and baby changing facilities in the female toilets. 4. There are no adult changing facilities however baby changing facilities are available at Speke hall WC’s.

House

1. There is a distance of approximately 10m between the front entrance to the property from where the mini bus drops visitors off. 2. There is a paved single width path to the front entrance. 3. The back door entrance is accessed via the side path and has a portable ramp. The back door is up 1 step (160mm high) and opens inwardly. 4. The front door is not currently part of the one way route, but has 2 steps up (both 150mm high). Due to the nature of the property there is no ramp available. 5. The front entrance manually opens inwards. The tour guide is on hand to assist with the door if required. 6. The front entrance door is 770mm wide. The back door is 780mm wide. 7. The ground floor and first floor hallways and stairs have wooden painted flooring with single strip of carpet running down the centre. The kitchen has a tiled floor. 8. There are large windows located in all of the rooms supplemented with fluorescent artificial lighting. 9. Access upstairs is via stairs with one handrail on the left hand side. Due to the historic nature of the property, there is no lift available. 10. The doorway to the front room is 730mm wide. The 2 doorways to the kitchen are 660mm wide. The hallway on the first floor is 730mm wide. The doorway to Mike McCartney’s bedroom is 730mm wide. The doorway to Paul McCartney’s bedroom is 660mm wide. 11. Please be aware, the rooms are quite small and crowded with furniture. There is limited space to turn a wheel chair. 12. There are seats, but they are currently only available for emergency use due to Covid 19. 13. Indoor or light weight powered mobility vehicles are allowed in the house on the ground floor if they are sufficiently compact e.g. Class 2. Outdoor Class 3 mobility scooters are not permitted in the house. Access is restricted to rooms that allow a turning circle of 1500mm. This is subject to the physical limitations of the individual building and any other temporary constraints applying on the day

Retail

1. If you'd like to take home a souvenir of your visit, guidebooks for both houses can be purchased in advance when you buy your tickets for the tours online. Guidebooks are also on sale at Speke Hall Reception Building. Garden 1. Due to the timings of the tour, there is very little time to explore the garden. 2. The rear garden is 1 step down from the back door. There is paved area in front of the door with a small paved path leading onto the grass. 3. The pathway is level.

11. Mendips is a semi-detached house located on a main road. The property has a downwards slope leading towards the house with a flat garden. There is a double width gate leading onto the smooth patterned concrete driveway. 12. Access is by pre-booked minibus tour only and visitors arriving at the house will not be allowed access unless part of this tour. 13. There is good mobile phone signal at the property. 14. Tour of the house is by guided tour with a trained guide. 15. Assistance Dogs are welcome throughout the property. 16. Light levels are kept low in the house to protect the collection from irreversible light damage. 17. Visitors will be requested to hand over bags and cameras to be stored in the house in order to protect the collection. No suitcases or large bags are allowed. 18. 14. The entrance to the property is 30m from where visitors are dropped off by the mini bus. 15. The path and main drive to the back entrance are made of smooth concrete/tarmac. 16. There is 1 step up into the back entrance of the property where the tour starts and 1 step down from the front entrance where the tour exits. There is a lightweight foldaway ramp available upon request. 17. The front entrance door manual opens inwards to the property whilst the back main entrance door manually opens outwardly. The guide is on hand to assist with doors if required. 18. There is a secondary interior door manually opening inwards from the front door which is 1 step up. There is also a secondary interior door from the kitchen into the rest of the property which is 1 step up and opens inwardly. The guide is on hand to assist with door open if required. 19. Both front and back doors are 750mm wide. The secondary interior door from the front door is 840mm wide. The secondary interior door from the kitchen is 750mm wide. 20. The kitchen and front porch areas have tiled floors. The rest of the property is carpeted. 21. There are large windows located in all of the rooms supplemented with fluorescent artificial lighting 22. Access upstairs is via stairs with one handrail on the right hand side. Due to the historic nature of the property, there is no lift. 23. Doorways and corridors throughout the property are at least 750mm wide. 24.
