    2021 MEN’S NATIONAL AMATEUR SQUAD SELECTION CRITERIA Golf Canada is carefully following the evolution of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it may impact the Team Canada Selection criteria for 2020/21 Squads (to be selected no later than September 30, 2020). With the approval of Golf Canada’s Sport and Selection Committee, Golf Canada reserves the right to modify the published Selection criteria based on the best available information. Any modifications will be made promptly and will be communicated to all affected individuals as soon as possible Introduction: 1. The selection criteria will serve as the basis on which all players are selected to the Golf Canada Men’s National Amateur Squad. 2. Following selection to the Men’s National Amateur Squad and prior to the start of the competitive season, the coaching staff of the Golf Canada Men’s National Amateur Squad will establish, in consultation with the players named to the Golf Canada Men’s National Amateur Squad, the players annual performance goals including the level of competition at which such goals are expected to be met. 3. Let the player think as much as he likes before he comes to a con- clusion as to what he is going to try to do, and what club he is going to take for the purpose; but, having taken his club, it will be far better for the prospects of his shot if he dismisses the questions of any alternatives absolutely from his mind. Unless there is very good reason indeed for the change, a club should always be used for the shot it was taken out of the bag for, once the ball has been addressed with it. Changes at the last moment nearly always result in the golfer making his shot in a half-hearted sort of way, as if he werestill not satisfied that he was doing the right thing. A good shot seldom results, and it is always better to stick to the original club.     THE CANADIAN SENIORS’ GOLF ASSOCIATION CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF SENIORS GOLF 1918-2018 s we head into the next Century of CSGA golf, there is Aplenty to be thankful for. We are now concluding a very busy year for our Association. For 100 years the Canadian Seniors’ Golf Association has been a center for golfers age 55+ to meet new people and establish life long friendships Canada-wide. The CSGA was founded on May 18th, 1918 with the first Annual Tournament being held at Royal Montreal Golf Club that September. The 2018 Centennial event at Rosedale Golf Club and Scarboro Golf and Country Club (both founding CSGA Clubs) was no different than the previous 100 with a group of Senior Men coming together to enjoy each other’s company for a few days. The original field of 81 far exceeded the Association’s expectations. This year the CSGA hosted 300 players from CSGA President, Mike Jackson across the country on the two courses. The CSGA is a National Association that has members from coast to coast. There are 789 active members including 155 emeritus members who are represented. We continue to have a strong wait list that is reviewed annually. The CSGA celebrated its Centennial throughout 2018 starting with the publication of our Centennial Book, written by London based author Jeffrey Reed. Jeffrey, Ian Gibson (Executive Director), Sheila Johnston (Secretary) and Jim Fraser (CSGA and Ontario Golf Hall of Fame Member) completed extensive research at Golf Canada archives to source essential resource content and photos for the book. And canvassed many golf clubs in Canada for historical material.
