Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a ground breaking feature-length environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean ‘dead zones,’ and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged.

13+ 1hour 25 minutes 10:30

Food Choices Join award-winning filmmaker Michal Siewierski on his three-year journey to expose the truth about our food choices. This ground- breaking documentary explores the impact that food choices have on people’s health, the health of our planet and on the lives of other living species. It also discusses several misconceptions about food and diet, offering a unique new perspective on these issues. Featuring interviews with 28 world-renowned experts, including Dr. T Colin Campbell, Joe Cross, Dr. John McDougall, Capitan Paul Watson, Dr. Pam Popper, Dr. , Rich Roll, Dr. Richard Oppenlander, Dr. Toni Bark and several others. This film will certainly change the way you look at the food on your plate.

12:30 14+ 1hour 30 minutes

18 Swine We have been sold a lie. Would you pay the ultimate price to save the lives of millions? Rumours of a recent mutation in the MRSA bug infecting the UK pig population has promoted Guard-Media journalist Jack Tomlins to go undercover in a pig farm. His search for the truth leads him to make some shocking discoveries. Everything hangs in the balance as Jack tries to tell the world what he has seen.

15 15 minutes 14:30

Blackfish Blackfish tells the story of Tilikum, a performing killer whale that killed several people while in captivity. Along the way, director- producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite compiles shocking footage and emotional interviews to explore the creature’s extraordinary nature, the species’ cruel treatment in captivity, the lives and losses of the trainers and the pressures brought to bear by the multi-billion dollar sea-park industry. This emotionally wrenching, tautly structured story challenges us to consider our relationship to nature and reveals how little we humans have learned from these highly intelligent and enormously sentient fellow mammals.

15:00 14+ 1hour 25 minutes

The Ghosts in our Machine The Ghosts In Our Machine illuminates the lives of individual animals living within and rescued from the machine of our modern world. Through the heart and photographic lens of animal rights photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur, audiences become intimately familiar with a cast of non-human animals. From undercover investigations to joyful rescue missions, in North America and in Europe, each photograph and story is a window into global animal industries: Food, Fashion, Entertainment and Research. The Ghosts In Our Machine charts McArthur’s efforts to bring wider attention to a topic that most of humankind strives hard to avoid. Are non-human animals property to be owned and used, or are they sentient beings deserving of rights? 17:00 13+ 60 minutes

Factory Farming: The Greatest Crime Of Our Time? with Toni Shephard of Animal Equality Over the past 20 years I have filmed inside dozens and dozens of factory farms, yet I never cease to be shocked and ashamed by what I find in these vast windowless buildings deliberately hidden from public view. While most people have a general idea of the grisly and bloody fate animals endure inside slaughterhouses, few give much thought to how animals raised and killed for food live. Animal Equality believes people have the right to know what happens in modern farms. But more than this, we believe that exposing the unimaginably cruel practices that take place inside factory farms is the key to changing people’s diets as most people are unaware of just how mechanised and industrialised modern farming is. This talk will detail 13:30-14:30 the shocking yet routine practices on intensive pig and poultry farms in the hope that activists will use this knowledge to alert others to the misery and pain farmed animals endure for weeks, months or even years before they meet their bloody end. FREE to attend.

Health Benefits of a Whole Food Plant Based Diet with Mick Walker of Vegan Cyclist UK So many of us were brought up to believe that the maintenance of health and fitness can only be achieved on a diet based around animal protein. We now have incontrovertible evidence that this is entirely incorrect – indeed it is becoming clear that the healthiest of diets is a Whole Food Plant Based Diet. This means a diet based 100% on plants – and they should be consumed in a form that is as close as possible to how they were grown and harvested. It should include little, if any processed or refined products - for example, no added sugar or oil. In this talk, I will outline some of the evidence for this and look at some top athletes who live on a plant based diet. I will also explain exactly what should be included in such a diet on a daily basis. 14:00-15:00
