THE EDUCATIONAL TRUST PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO OXFORD AND CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITIES FOR STUDENTS FROM THE COUNTRIES WHERE THE JARDINE MATHESON GROUP HAS OPERATIONS. The Jardine Foundation’s goal is to develop future leaders who aspire to give back to the communities where we operate. Scholarships are available for courses at Oxford and Cambridge, with preference being given to undergraduate courses at the following Colleges: UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE Downing, Magdalene, Peterhouse, Trinity UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD Exeter, Oriel, The Queen’s, Trinity In addition to scholarships for undergraduate courses, the Foundation also offers scholarships for postgraduate studies. Potential candidates will generally be recommended through the preferred colleges at Oxford and Cambridge from those students who have already been accepted by the Universities to carry out postgraduate studies. Since the launch of the Foundation, scholarships have been awarded to UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD over 370 outstanding students from Cambodia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. 03 CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE The Jardine Foundation provides excellent opportunities for outstanding young persons to benefit from the unique qualities of an Oxbridge education. The Scholarship Committee is delighted to note that over 370 Jardine Scholarships have now been awarded to extraordinary individuals from 11 countries.     The Jardine Foundation Scholarships 2019 for Postgraduate Studies at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Guidelines Introduction To mark its 150th Anniversary in June 1982, Jardine Matheson established an educational trust called The Jardine Foundation to provide scholarships. The Foundation in its discretion awards Jardine Scholarships annually to students to enable them to attend educational establishments, primarily selected colleges at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge (the ‘Universities’) in the United Kingdom. The Foundation aims to assist scholars who have the potential to become outstanding citizens with a high commitment to the community. Consequently, the selection of candidates is based on a number of criteria, which include academic achievement and academic potential, leadership qualities, and involvement in non-curricular activities and community affairs. The Foundation is seeking applications from postgraduate students who have been provisionally accepted at either of the Universities and will be resident in one of the Foundation’s preferred Colleges. Applications must be made through the Preferred Colleges. General Information 1) Scholarships for postgraduate studies (such as Masters or PhD) are for periods of up to four years. This year it was hosted by the Taipei European School in Tai- FOBISIA Heads’ wan. As usual there was a great deal of routine business enacted to ensure the federation continues to run Business Meeting 3 smoothly, but also some events and issues of greater significance. 2014 We were delighted to be able to extend a special welcome the English School of Mongolia as a new mem- FOBISIA MUN 2014 4 ber school of FOBISIA. This is the first school to join the federation following our recent decision to enlarge the geographical area that we encompass. Bukan berarti hal ini menyiratkan bahwa pendidikan 2 di Indonesia tidak baik, namun lagi-lagi faktanya adalah bahwa dalam hal pendidikan ada cukup banyak negara selain Indonesia yang menawarkan kualitas pendidikan yang lebih bagus secara paket keseluruhan. Maksudnya adalah mulai dari lingkungannya, institusnya, dan bahkan pihak-pihak pendukungnya yang memberikan satu kesempatan besar untuk terus berkembang ketika berada di luar negeri. Jika mau diambil contoh mengenai pengembangan berbagai hal di Indonesia saat ini sudah ada beberapa contoh yang justru berakhir tidak baik. Masih ingat dengan kasus mobil listrik? Itu hanya satu contoh dimana memang ternyata budaya apresiasi atau menghargai itu masih belum terpupuk di Indonesia.
