You start handling you electric bike or your hybrid bike. Overnight in a hotel, in half-board. Day 2 Autrans – La Chapelle en Vercors You leave Autrans, the most northerly village of the Vercors to Méaudre, 5km. After that you go in the beautiful gorges of the Méaudret for a few km before the gorges of the Bourne, the main river of the Vercors. You will pass by the villages of St Julien en Vercors, St Martin and finally la Chapelle en Vercors, in the Central Vercors. Possible variant by the pass of Carri and the Lente forest. 33 to 60km. +375m, -625m. Overnight in a hotel, half-board. During spring and fall, the gorges of the Bourne are occasionally closed because of works on the road; in that case the stage passes by Herbouilly. Day 3 La Chapelle en Vercors, 910m– Die, 468m 2 possible itineraries to reach the pass of Rousset, 1254m 1/ By Vassieux and its beautiful valley, and the pass of St Alexis, 1222m that will lead you to the pass of Rousset, the geographical and climatic limit of the Vercors plateau by the road. 2/ By St Agnan en Vercors, Rousset and the valley of Vernaison before reaching the pass of Rousset. You tip switch to the Povencal climate with pines and lavender! Long descent to Die, a roman city, capital of the Clairette. 40 to 60km. +350m, -850m. Overnight in a hotel. Free diner in the beautiful little town. Tour of Vercors by bike, selfguided : 2015 2 GRAND ANGLE Day 4 Die - Chichilianne Today, you cross the vineyard until Châtillon en Disois, a nice village with its squares and narrow little streets. You continue to Nonnières, 858m, the last village before the passé of Mené, 1457m. Spectacular narrow descent to the pass of Prayer, 1197m and Chichilianne, 1000m. 46km. +1020m, -400m. Overnight in a hotel half-board. Day 5 Chichilianne - Gresse en Vercors Incursion into the Trièves, the country of Giono, gentle hills by the villages of Clelles, Mens, St Michel des Portes and Gresse en Vercors, 1210m, at the bottom of the cliffs of Grand Veymont, the summit of the Vercors, 2341m. 57km. 950m, -700m. Overnight in a hotel, half-board Day 6 Gresse en Vercors - Claix You cycle under the Grand Veymont and along the Eastern side of the Vercors, you take small roads and you’ll pass by the villages of St Andéol, Château Bernard, the pass of Arazelier, 1149m and Prélenfrey before reaching the region of Grenoble and Claix, 250m, via Vif and Varces. 42km, +350m, -1200m. Overnight in a hotel, half-board. Day 7 Claix – Autrans Memorable ascent and panoramic view to St Nizier du Moucherotte, 1162m. The descent to Lans en Vercors is gentle and there’s a last ascent (4km) to the pass of the Croix Perrin before reaching Autrans.33km. +1100m, -350m. Tour of Vercors by bike, selfguided : 2015 3 GRAND ANGLE DETAILS LEVEL 3 IN HYBRID BIKE Good cyclist for hybrid bike, it’s much easier with an electric bike. The stages are mostly on roads. 30 to 50km per day. No technical difficulties but the difference in level can be important if you are on a hybrid bike. LUGGAGE You only carry your daily belongings and picnics in a small bag or in you saddle bags. You’ll get you luggage at your hotel in the evening: you luggage are transported by taxi. We ask you to limit your luggage to 1 per person. ACCOMMODATION / FOOD Accommodation in half-board, 2 person sharing the room basis, in hotels (or guesthouse). In Die: bed and breakfast. Generally, you can order you lunch bag at your hotel. ORGANISATION Self-guided tour, you will get a travel pack with maps, roadbook and vouchers.
