Leeland, Ed.D. Resident and Presiding Bishop Western North Carolina Conference | Charlotte Area 2 Western NC Conference | 2018 Supplement WELCOME FROM LAKE JUNALUSKA Dear Western North Carolina Conference Members and Guests: We are so pleased to welcome you back to Lake Junaluska for the Western North Carolina Annual Conference. Your loyalty to this place and its mission, “to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through the renewal of soul, mind, and body” is deeply appreciated. While you are here, we encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities provided to experience that transformation and renewal for yourself in the midst of the important work of holy conferencing. We are especially happy to share with you this year the many improvements that are taking place all throughout Lake Junaluska. In 2018 we will make a total investment of $5 million into projects ranging from the renovation of Lambuth Inn, to the reconstruction of the bridge over the dam, to renovation and improvements to our housing facilities that are primarily used by youth and young adults in support of the revitalization of our programming for those important guests. Other projects will focus on our public recreation areas including re-plastering the pool, resurfacing the tennis courts, a full renovation of the restrooms at the Nanci Weldon Gym, improvements to the walking trail, a new meditation pier, and a new dock for the Cherokee IV tour boat. Many of these projects are already complete and ready for you to enjoy, and most of them were made possible in full or in part through charitable giving. We sincerely want you to have a wonderful time with us at the 2018 Western North Carolina Annual Conference. We are here to serve you.
