Worship & Music Minutes– January 14, 2020 Goals for 2020 1. Establish as part of the monthly W&M agenda, time to focus on creative worship enhancements centered around the liturgical year. (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter,Pentecost) 2. Work to provide a variety of quarterly worship services with different worship styles, times, and occurrences. 3. Investigate what needs to happen for Starmount’s Worship Service to be “Lived Stream” to the community of Greensboro.

Committee Members (Present in BOLD): David Buchanan, Cynthia Dixon, Connie Fowler, April Hamilton, Doreen Heard, Kris Kattmann, Susan Preston, Karen Smith, Parks Williams, Matt Winters Staff: Charlie Lee, Bob Overman Opening Prayer – Parks Williams Worship Support Teams  Communion: o Regular communion on February 2, the class of 2020  Worship & Sanctuary Enhancements o Starmount Banners and Parament – White through January 12 o January 19-February 16 (Epiphany Sundays) – Color Green; February 23 (Transfiguration Sunday) White; February 26 – Color Purple; March 1-April 5 (Palm Sunday) – Color Purple o The committee was asked if anyone wanted to help provide enhancements. Parks suggest some resources and some ideas that could be used. Charlie and Parks will discuss further.  Scripture Readers o Scripture readers are solicited through February  Sound & Video –One mic is not working and Audio Light has been contacted. Microphone was fixed at no cost today.  Ushers & Acolytes  Flowers & Decoration of Sanctuary o Jinny Buchanan has put dates in the bulletin in which flowers are needed. Bob’s Report  Maundy Thursday/Good Friday Services: Maunday Thursday Service at Jamestown Presbyterian Church. Good Friday Service at Starmount. Both services by the choirs of both churches will do Mark Hayes: Requiem.  Bach’s Lunch will be held from March 16-20.  A Jazz Worship Service will be held on February 16 – Wally West is putting this together. Charlie’s Report New/Old Business  Glory to God – Projection – Everyone agreed that we should purchase this product to be used during worship services. The cost is $500.  Live Streaming of our Worship Services – Add as one of our goals for 2020. To look into what needs to happen to start streaming our worship services on Sunday. Check with churches that steam now – Christ United Methodist, First Presbyterian, W. Market St United Methodist for some guidance. Special Services – Session Retreat All-Church Family Retreat. February Retreat for the Women of the Church (Feb. 22-24) May Men’s Golf event The Caring Committee will offer communion to sick, homebound, and facility residents. Each of these observances will have a worship service where Scripture is read, the proclamation is made, prayer is offered, and two elders will be present.
