To cope with the loss, she began writing songs. “The first time I sat at the piano after the accident, I shut my eyes and honestly felt my dad’s presence next to me,” she says. “I poured my heart into those first few songs. The only way I could connect with him was when I played music.” Bostic eventually earned a degree from Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Lee DeWyze Biography FRAMES Lee DeWyze formally launches the pivotal next stage of what is already a high-profile musical career with his Vanguard Records debut – Frames. The 27-year-old DeWyze seriously considered calling the album “Silver Lining,” after the hook-laden song because that phrase succinctly sums up where he’s been and where he’s headed. “This past year, I hunkered down and wrote an album,” the Chicago native explains. “I wanted to take it back to what I’m really about, which is writing emotionally charged, meaningful songs. It wasn’t like I wanted to find a label and then decide what kind of album to make. I knew what kind of album I wanted to make and knew I could make. It’s going back to the kind of music I’ve always loved. I grew up listening to Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel—folk-based acoustic music. Don’t get me wrong—my experience on the show was great. But for someone like me and the kind of music I make, that only takes you so far. It feels really good to get back to the grass roots of what I’m about. The way I see it, everything that’s happened throughout my career has happened so that I can make this record.” The show DeWyze is referring to is American Idol, which he won in 2010. Ironically, the vast majority of the hordes of fans he made during Season Nine have no idea that this powerful and expressive singer is at his core an uncommonly gifted and distinctive songwriter as well as an accomplished musician.

In the time since his 2006 run on the show, Covais appeared in the films College and Labor Pains, alongside Lindsay Lohan. When he is not in the recording studio readying new music, Covais works with the Diabetes Research Institute. He lives in Los Angeles. Here is Kevin's first blog entry. With the first Top 12 performance round kicking off last night, the American Idol stakes are officially raised and the contestants under a pressure like you couldn't imagine. I can't help but recall my pulse racing right before I hit the stage four years ago around this time. Ah, what fun it was! But I digress. See photos of the singers vying for your votes this season! We start off theme weeks with a band that is a bit before my time, but undoubtedly one of the best ever: The Rolling Stones. And I must say, when comparing last night's show to some of the lackluster semifinals weeks of the show thus far, I found myself quite excited and impressed when it was all said and done. My biggest issue the past few weeks has been song choice, but it appears that having a theme was a blessing in disguise for this very unique, talented group. I don't know that there was a single song choice I didn't agree with last night.
