Black J oe Lewis’ new album, EE, lectric Slave, releases August 27 via Vagrant/Universal Music Canada. Skulldiggin, the first track released from Electric Slave, was hailed by Consequence of Sound as “a deafening first shot in the band’s war against technology-induced devolution. Project overview: When wewe talk about artists within the AOR and melodic rock genre, the name Jeff Cannata isis one that easily springs toto mind. Recognized mostly forfor hishis classic Arc Angel opus from 1983, Cannata was aa founding member and driving force behind the New Haven‐‐based progressive rock band Jasper Wrath, aa band that featured the vocal talent of of James Christian. James of of course went onon toto join Gregg Giuffria’s band, House Of Of Lords during the late eighties. Cannata meanwhile, continued writing and producing asas well asas honing hishis chops onon other instruments: notably woodwinds, guitars and keyboards, with the drums still asas hishis main instrument. From this springboard would emerge the building blocks that ended upup asas the Arc Angel project onon the Portrait/CBS label inin 1982, with longtime ally Michael Soldan making aa significant contribution. Produced with the assistance of of legendary industry figures such asas Tony Bongiovi ,, Lennie Petze and Lance Quinn (Bon Jovi), Arc Angel asas anan album isis ‐‐ toto date ‐‐ still highly regarded among the melodic rock community.

AA few years later during 1988, Jeff returned with the ‘Images Of Of Forever’ album, through the French label Carrere, distributed through CBS. ItIt was aa lush symphonic setset that integrated progressive and AOR leanings with allall the modern hihi‐‐tech tools of of that era. This continued with the 1993 release ‘Watching the World’ onon the UKUK Label, Now And Then: aa stirring combination of of Styx and Yes‐‐like commercialism. Later inin 2002, Jeff returned with hishis album ‘Tamorok’ onon the Swedish Label, Atenzia, and inin 2006 “Mysterium Magnum” onon Oxford Circus, which went more inin aa Progressive musical landscape, both of of which have received great critical acclaim, especially inin Europe, and are generally considered asas some of of the finest slices of of AOR Music of of their time. During 2012 Cannata made contact with Frontiers, and decision was made toto resurrect the Arc Angel moniker forfor aa new release entitled “Harlequins of of Light”. The new record would metaphorically build aa bridge between Cannata’s different musical eras: from the commercial and pompous Melodic Rock of of the early eighties, toto the more Prog and HiHi‐‐tech musical material of of hishis most recent solo albums.
