Unique & Limited and Mclaren Present New Senna Art Project Unique & Limited and McLaren present new Senna art project • Unique & Limited and McLaren team up for another sensational art project. • Project reveal will take place on the 6th of February at 8pm at U&L’s booth at the Retromobile Paris. Guests will include Bruno Senna and Nigel Moss from McLaren; Philip Rathgen, CEO of Classic Driver, will be hosting and directing the Q&A. McLaren will bring one of their original F1 cars. • Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the iconic McLaren MP4/4 raced by Ayrton Senna to win both World Championships. • Fans get to enjoy a collection of limited edition fine art prints and a selection of premium posters as featured on Automobilist.com. Prague, 16 January 2017 - Fine art print gallery Unique & Limited has once again teamed up with the McLaren Formula 1 team to recreate another iconic moment in motorsport history. For 2018, they will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Formula 1’s most successful car ever built: the McLaren-Honda MP4/4. The MP4/4 was raced by legendary World Champions, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, and won 15 of the 16 Grands Prix in 1988. Unique & Limited and McLaren had previously collaborated in 2016, successfully celebrating the 40th anniversary of James Hunt’s F1 world championship with a print of Hunt driving his M23 to the title at a rain-soaked Fuji track, in Japan. What is the new project about? The new MP4/4 artwork will feature Senna taking over Nelson Piquet and racing for victory at the 1988 San Marino Grand Prix, a race in which the team were utterly dominant, scoring a memorable one-two with his teammate - Alain Prost - and finishing more than a lap ahead of their nearest rival. Unique & Limited applied their typically exacting approach to the research and design of the image, working alongside McLaren to ensure all research, concept development and digital photography and advanced CGI were absolutely faithful to the original race car. It was a process that took Unique’s team of highly skilled artists almost four months to complete. The 3D model of the MP4/4 was recreated with every minor dent, scratch and scuff from the race; and the same level of painstaking care and attention went into the location, characters and supporting props that were used to establish the scene at Imola. The image was also created in collaboration with the Senna Foundation, with the practical support of Ayrton’s nephew Bruno, who depicted his legendary uncle during a photographic session for the print, held in Prague last October. McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown said: “In 2018, McLaren will be celebrating a number of landmark anniversaries, and it’s great to see Unique & Limited kicking things off with a print of two of McLaren’s greatest icons, the iconic MP4/4 and the legendary Ayrton Senna. It’s incredible to think that it’s been 30 years since two giants of the sport, Ayrton and Alain Prost, were battling against each other in arguably the most iconic Formula 1 car ever created. Unique’s print captures the intensity of that remarkable season, as well as the timeless beauty of the car and the turbo-charged era. It looks absolutely fantastic.” Launch of the project at Retromobile Paris The limited-edition artwork collection will be available in 3 different sizes (small, medium, large) and revealed for the first time at the Retromobile Car Show in Paris on February 6 2018 at 8pm. It will be showcased alongside an original McLaren Formula 1 car, with Bruno present on the night for the unveiling. Philip Rathgen, CEO of Classic Driver, will host the evening and will provide a closer look behind the scenes, as well as a Q&A session with Bruno and the creators. The reveal will take place directly at the Unique & Limited booth in the Gallery des Artists area. A brand new interior design concept In addition, model car makers Amalgam will simultaneously reveal a one-off 1:8 edition of the MP4/4 in weathered racing condition. It will be on display at the Unique & Limited booth, and only available for purchase on site in combination with one of Unique’s large art pieces. A new series of limited posters Finally, in addition to the hero print, Unique & Limited has created a line of five complementary posters depicting the MP4/4 and Ayrton Senna. These high-quality posters are priced affordably, starting from $30, and will be on display in Paris and available for purchase online. — Ends — Images and behind the scene material can be found here. Bonnier Books Ltd, United Kingdom, 2014. Hardback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book. Legendary Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna s intensity and commitment earned him a reputation as one of the biggest names in world sport. In his brief, fiery Grand Prix career, he won 41 races and three world championships. But it was his belief, passion and raw speed that made him a global superstar - and, at times, a dramatically controversial figure. Senna felt he was the best - and his results certainly backed up his belief. But the Brazilian s rivals - most notably his McLaren team-mate, Alain Prost - were aware that his self-belief could be contentious; his utter refusal to be beaten occasionally led to colourful consequences on the track. Senna s death at the San Marino Grand Prix on 1 May 1994 stunned the world. Many books have been written since that freak accident at the wheel of a Williams 20 years ago, but none captures the warm relationship he had with McLaren, the team with which he enjoyed his greatest successes.

Now you are in high-level business, have you discovered that hardness that might have been lacking in the past? ItT may have looked so because I never had the most competitive car. But if you look closely at my results, most of the time I have beaten my teammates, whoever they were. So, I don't think that I lacked a ruthless streak, I just had no opportunity. • Ayrton Senna
AYRTON SENNA Ayrton Senna is, perhaps, the greatest racing driver ever to have walked the planet. He was certainly the best qualifier of all time in Formula One racing, obtaining twice as many poles as the great Alain Prost . He was in pole position a remarkable four times out of every ten races alltogether 65 times which even Schumacher has not beaten yet. It was in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 21.3.1960 that Ayrton Senna Da Silva was born. His parents were wealthy, especially by Brazilian standards, so he did not have to experience many of the hardships associated with growing up there (his father was a thriving businessman and landowner). As a young boy, he had a reputation for being clumsy, which was later diagnosed as a motor coordination deficiency, but his father could see the racing driver in him, and bought him his first go-kart at the age of four. Young Ayrton showed remarkable dedication to the machine, both in racing it, and its maintenance. His father rewarded him by buying him another better kart, and at the age of eight, Ayrton Senna competed in his first race. This time also saw the emergence of the great Brazilian driver Emerson Fittipaldi, and it was he along with Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart, that proved to be a great inspiration for the young Senna. When Ayrton was thirteen he was allowed to enter kart races, and promptly won his first one in style, against some prodigious local talent. 1976 the great Brazilian won the South American Kart Championships, and by 1980 had finished second in two consecutive World Kart Championships, virtually unheard of for a driver with such limited experience.

Legalised for road use, but not sanitised to suit it, the new Ultimate Series deliberately compromises McLaren’s trademark breadth of supercar daily usability; instead it provides the purest connection between driver and car, to deliver the most intense circuit experience of any road McLaren. The technical recipe is classic McLaren Automotive supercar, a pedigree established and earned in the short time elapsed since the pioneering sports and supercar company was founded in 2010, but taken to another level entirely in the McLaren Senna.
