Dear board members, Isn't an old town theater groovy?! It's almost always a central highlight for a community! In spite of a global pandemic that shuttered so many community venues, Mudturtle Theatrical Inc., a nonprofit created specifically to save the Fillmore Town Theatre, wants to build community through the arts by restoring this historic venue. Why should Mudturtle Theatrical, Inc. be chosen to purchase the Fillmore Town Theatre? We: • will keep the theater locally owned and operated • have a track record of working with nonprofits including community theater and community colleges (through our corporate video arm, Mudturtle Media, LLC) • have reach to venue centric talent, diverse entertainment, and community-driven theater • are dedicated to supporting local needs as members of the Rotary Club and Fillmore Association of Businesses The city closed the theater doors a decade ago Thankfully, they didn't have the heart to just tear it down. It's important to note that the current civic leadership appreciates the value of what's possible. To create a standard of excellence and attract quality talent, the theater decor must be renovated and the structure be brought up to current state and local government codes. We estimate the cost to be $1.2 million. The land value is estimated at $90,000. We are offering $100,000. Aside from the sentimental value, the building has little to be desired for a regular commercial developer. It's a very specific structure suited to a singular purpose. We will create a venue that builds community through the arts for generations to come. The attached RFP summarizes our plan and experienced personnel. Mudturtle Theatrical is excited to share our passion for the arts in the community of Fillmore through the historic Fillmore Town Theatre. We look forward to speaking with you further. Thank you for your time and consideration,

A History, Reborn

Vaudeville. Silent Movies. Talkies. Two fires and an earthquake. The Fillmore Town Theatre has seen it all on a 105 year rollercoaster of success and failure. Rising from the rubble after the devastating 1934 Northridge earthquake, the theater eventually fell into disrepair and insolvency over the last 10 years, continuing the roller coaster effect.

Hi! I'm Sean McCulley, a very new resident to Fillmore. I moved here for the small town Americana feel that Fillmore epitomizes. The Fillmore Town Theatre is very much a part of that community feel and, when I was told it was going to be sold to be turned into apartments, I knew I needed to do something to bring the building back to its original purpose: Arts for th.e community.

So, I recently formed Mudturtle Theatrical, Inc, a nonprofit organization, to take the Fillmore Town Theatre off the rollercoaster and return it to a place of prominence for community engagement.

The residents of Fillmore deserve a long term team and plan for the theater. Mudturtle Theatrical is the source for that proposition. Here is the strategy. 131 II 1)1`( ( ( )`1`11 ',•1 I 1 II VOL ( I 1111 \ 1

Li Current Condition The repairs and upgrades necessary to breathe life back into the theater are extensive. Water damage, mold, and sewage have all taken their toll. After the earthquake, the structure of the theater was upgraded and repaired to mid-1990's standards. So while the bones of the theater are solid, the rest of the building and amenities need rehabilitation. The list of needs is pervasive in every section of the theater from the marquee to the lobby to auditorium to the basement with bathrooms, office space and storage in between. offiji All photos by Mudturde Media. To that end, we conducted extensive on-site research beginning in V:* •L'o• February, 2021. As part of our research, we reviewed the theater's blueprints, created in 1995, as wells as documents dating back to the WP:diE leinuimx. 1930s.

With our findings, we engaged Kip Coleman Architecture and Jamison Construction for their evaluation. On the following page is a brief list of some of the key issues that need to be addressed. sirnom r ALPIMMuu c -o.1 ni oriir

He's has thousands of hours directing live concerts and events for global satellite feeds. He's also created hundreds of videos for corporate, government and non-profit clients through CEO his company, Mudturtle Media, LC. The non-profit work has the most meaning for him and includes projects covering human Mudturtle Theatrical, Inc. trafficking, orphaned children, medical and health outreach and disaster relief. These projects exposed Sean to needs in places around the world including India, Nepal, Jamaica, Honduras, Costa Rica, Okinawa, Guam, as well as throughout the United States and Canada. Documentary work is also in his repertoire, having been an editor and production manager on the original "The Conscientious Objector' film, which became the basis for the Academy Award winning film, "Hacksaw Ridge" as well as other documentary series. Currently, Sean's non-profit work includes a boarding school for Native American children in Holbrook, Arizona and community colleges throughout California. His documentary work has him venturing to Vietnam soon. Sean acted in and directed theater productions in his college years. It seemed inevitable since he was raised in a theater environment owing to his mother, a theater director, costumer, and performer and his father, an actor, stage manager and prop master in television for such shows as Carol Burnett and Maude. Sean's father also worked on shows through out the major theaters in including Hollywood Pantages Theater, Shrine Auditorium, Pasadena Playhouse, , Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Moving to Fillmore has been on Sean's mind for several decades. Although a resident of Thousand Oaks for almost 20 years, Sean moved to Santa Clarita in 2008. One of his regular video clients, Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, had Sean driving through Fillmore every week. And each week the desire to move to Fillmore became stronger. Finally, in 2019, the circumstances were right and him and his wife, Connie, purchased a home in Fillmore. They moved in June 2020. Since then Sean has become involved in the Fillmore Rotary Club - and was recently appointed to the local club board - and Fillmore Association cf Businesses.
